i am living in dubai here phne expences is very high so i have free internet facilities, if there is any web site or softwere to make a call thrue internet to land phone(pc to phone).
www.skype.com
download and install skype.. you can use a mic and headphones.. but if you prefer to use a phone, they have usb phones, or an adapter that you can use a standard telephone... the rates are very low.. check there website.. I get incoming and outgoing for a whole year for less then I would pay for 3 months of phone service for anyone else.. To make pc 2 phone call you can right click the contact id of the person you want to call in yahoo msg than click call than click call a phone number and than follow the instructions.
you will have to top up you account to call a land line, I think a $10 will fetch you approximately about 70 mins talk time.
keep you headphone ready .. g00d luck very silly question
visit www.google.com write free international calls

I have privacy manager on my phone (AT%26T) and cannot remember the password to bypass this when I%26#39;m calling home from overseas, and its costing me an extra minute or two to finally connect. I want to disable it for 2 weeks and I am currently overseas so I cannot call AT%26T and not sure how long it will be for them to answer an e-mail. Does anyone know if I can just put a code in my home phone to disable this feature (I would have my wife do it, but she wouldn%26#39;t know how to ask AT%26T herself).
Thanks,
try "0000" as the default code!
or email ATT! its faster..
* Call 1-888-591-5191 for your area to establish language preferences, set up access codes for desired frequent callers to override Privacy Manager, change your PIN, or turn Privacy Manager on or off.
* Your initial PIN will be the last four numbers of your telephone number.
* match the caller%26#39;s 10 digit home number for easy management of the list.
* You are limited to 10 access codes, however you can use the same access code more than once.

if you "cant have internet" perhaps you should get internet from your cable provider, or get wireless internet, and keep a POTS phone, so that the only thing on your phone bill is your phone usage.. besides cable internet is faster...
why cant you have internet? SO?? It would help if you can be a little bit more specific. What exactly are you trying to edit? call the provider and ask for seperate bills for land line %26 internet, they will give these as some employers pay phone bills but not internet fees You can%26#39;t edit your phone bill. If I am understanding you correctly- someone is paying for your phone bill and you don%26#39;t want them to know you have internet as well on it, for umm what ever reason ;). To stop this from happening you would actually have to have 2 lines going into your house. 1) for your home phone. The 2nd line for what is called a standalone DSL acount. That%26#39;s the only way when it comes to keeping the billing seperated.

All I have is the number I tried white pages and all diffrent search engines what else can I do?
www.zabasearch.com is the only one where you can find unlisted numbers for free. google
unless they have blocked there number...it will even bring up a map. if your in canada you can 411 the phone number by entering it into a reverse phone number search.. go to yellowbook.com http://www.reversephonedirectory.com/...
http://www.anywho.com/rl.html
http://www.journalismnet.com/phones/reve...
http://www.infospace.com/revphone.htm...
Hope it helped!! there is no way for you to find an address of that phone number if it is not publicly listed. when it%26#39;s private, it is a data protected number (under DATA PROTECTION) and cannot be traced by any websites. the only thing to trace it is to make a request from the fbi or any agency unless that number is involve in a criminal offense. Try putting the number into the Google search engine. It should kick out all that information for you. I think it may only work on landlines though. Good luck! Google or www.anywho.com

I%26#39;ve been getting these prank calls lately, and I have caller id, but it only shows me the number. I%26#39;ve tried *69 but the operator thingie just tells me it can%26#39;t tell me anything. Is there anyway I can find out who it is if I know the number they%26#39;re using?
here we go.try this websites!
You never have to pay those exorbitant directory assistance charges again. Check out these sites to find telephone numbers for individuals, businesses and to look up zip codes:
# 411.com - Business and residential telephone numbers, zip codes, public records on individuals, maps and local entertainment
# switchboard.com - Find telephone listings for people, businesses, products and get e-mail addresses, maps and city guides
# Who Where - Powered by Lycos, find phone numbers and e-mail addresses for your family and friends or look up info on a celebrity. Or get career and money advice
# Any Who - Find a person or business
# Four11 - Telephone and e-mail addresses
# White Pages - Look up telephone numbers, e-mail addresses, area codes and Web sites. google the phone number
or place a call-trace for 8.00 You can do a reverse seach via whitepages website. Basically, instead of looking up a number for a name, you look up a name that goes with the number.
Or, you can call the police. Google is really good when looking for numbers, and if really annoying calls call the police I would call your phone provider %26 explain %26 give them the number you have for who ever is calling. Our phone book tells us to handle it that way, because who ever is doing it is misusing the phone company%26#39;s equipment. On ours, it says that when you get one of those calls, say nothing. Hang up. Dial *57, and you will get a call saying "This call has been traced" Then phone the police. Tell them about it and leave it up to them.

800 866 877 888 numbers are all toll free numbers, that are used nationallay... you are not able to tell directly what state the number is from... however, you can do a search online to see what company the number belongs to, and attempt to determine that way... as the toll free number may be registered to a new york office, but fowarded to a call center in india... Those are toll or toll-free phone numbers. They do not relate to any specific state. I don%26#39;t know, but when you find out, please let me know. I get those calls too. Annoying buggers. Good luck!

A friend of mine is bugging me to find out how he can setup a phone line in nepal to be accessible as 800 (toll free). I did some research, not much to be found. He would really appreciate if you know how it can be done and let me know.
Thanks
get a good VoIP provider, and then you can get virtual number so only 3.99 a month.8000 anything you want. He%26#39;ll need to have the incumbant operator (Nepal Telephone; or whatever their technical name is) establish a toll free number there. There are likely restrictions about using it as a calling card platform, from hotels, from payphones, from cell phones, etc.
If you have operations in North America or Europe, probably the best thing to do is to ask your local operator there to see if they can get a Nepalese TF number provisioned for you.
Expect significant costs to the end user, a fair # of restrictions, and likely slow provisioning if it can be done at all. I%26#39;m not sure Nepal is able to do much with TF numbers (or wishes to).
Your local operator can go to one of the big long-haul international guys (like Teleglobe) who has a connection with Nepal Telephone %26 Telegraph and see if international toll free is available.
Failing all this, get Vonage and set it up on broadband in Nepal with a north american number... :)

*72 and then the number... I believe you do *72 and then dial your cell phone number. I don%26#39;t have much knowledge in other countries if its possible by just dialing the number as suggested by some *72. But in our place, you need to apply this kind of service to the telephone company for your landline to forward calls right thru your cellphone so you can answer phone calls from your landline into your cellphone. Aside from the monthly basic charge, you have to pay for that call from any person for connecting the call from the landline to your cellphone. Meaning, the person who is calling you will pay the charge until the landline only and from the landline to your cellphone, it will be billed to you. That is our case here. Though you could both receive the calls. Simple! but you have to subscribe to a call forwarding feature to begin with. Call your local phone company and tell them you want call forwarding. What you should opt for if it is available is "remote" call forwarding which allows you to forward and UNforward your home phone not only while you%26#39;re still at home but also from any other phone. For instance, say you went to a friend%26#39;s house and you decided to stay overnight. You can dial your access number that the phone company will assign you for your call forwarding and then press in the 4 digit access code (since you%26#39;re calling from a number other than your home number) and then it will ask you to what number you want to forward your calls to and then it%26#39;s done. You can forward your home phone to your friend%26#39;s landline, your cellphone, your friend%26#39;s cellphone, etc etc, you get the picture. Then when you decide to change it to be forwarded to another number, you simply repeat the process, UNforward it and then do it again and forward to another number. It is such a wonderful service, you will NEVER want to be without it!
Good luck!

The only thing you will need is an antenna on top of your building which will be cabled down to your PC%26#39;s.
If you also want to use more than one computer you need to get a wireless router to configure to other computers so that all your computers will be hooked to the internet.
Actually i sell the wireless broadband am talking about and that dos not use any telephone lines.
The price quotes ranges from as low as $1.2 to $420 for the monthly bill and an installation fee will cost not more than $300 and that can be paid by installment.
If you are interested you can contact me at afreda@africa-wireless.com
or freyanse@yahoo.co.uk Go thru your cable company. You do not need a phone line for their DSL service. "stealing" wifi could be considered illeagal, and is not reliable any how..

I don%26#39;t like soliciters calling to get money from us---how do I get my number off their calling list??
Step One: Establish your first line of defense! Invest in a high tech call screening device that%26#39;s right for you. Once installed, these nifty tools eliminate most, if not all, of the aggravations caused by the barrage of unwelcome and invasive calls, with no monthly fees!
Step Two: Notify the direct marketers that you wish to be placed on their "DO NOT CALL" list. Join National and State Do Not Call Lists to make your desire for privacy known to the marketing industry.
Step Three: Be proactive and carefully manage your personal information. Information and tips are available thoughout this web-site.
http://www.privacycorps.com/products/... Disconnect your phone. Phone lines are oldschool these days. Get a cell phone if you dont got one. https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx... Go to the National do not call registry and register your home telephone and cell phone numbers on there.
Even doing this, your creditors may still contact you. donotcall.gov tell them to shut up and never call again or you will call the police Tell them to stop calling you. If that doesn%26#39;t work, you should ask about how you can get on some sort of list that soliciters can%26#39;t call. tell them, when my house used to get calls i told them no thanks and please take me off their calling list and by "law" they are supposed to do that. now.no more calls from soliciters! Add yourself to the do not call list. Google It. Register your phone number here:
now iam in kuwait,my home have bsnl landphone,i like to know the outgoing list of my landphone number,
Does your home in India have the ability to see the calling line ID ? I guess they are not receiving it? I know when VSNL carriers international calls to India, they are not blocking or removing the calling line ID.
I know sometimes when we use calling cards, the calling line ID (outgoing landphone number) does not appear.
Do you have another source in Kuwait where you might be able to find this number? Or, can the local operator in Kuwait provide it?
I%26#39;m sorry I don%26#39;t have any great ideas.

866-850-1750 KEEPS calling all day. I am pregnant and sick and really really tiered of the phone ringing. I tried to answer, but there%26#39;s no one there. They call like 5 or 6 times a day for the last week. I don%26#39;t want to take the phone off the hook because my husband will freak out if he can%26#39;t get a hold of me knowing that I%26#39;m pregnant and sick. I tried adding the call block option to my phone plan, but appearently you can%26#39;t block 800 or 866 numbers. What can I do?
I work for the phone company, but unfortunately I can get you access to what 866 that number is, but I know where you should be able to find out who it belongs too :) On Monday call 1-800-555-1212, that is the 800 directory assistance group, when you get the automated system asking what the name of the company you want an 800 number for, just reply OPERATOR, it will get you to a live person. Ask them if they can do a reverse look up for that number. Then you can know who it is calling. Also I have said this many times on here in regards to the donotcall registry. Registering is not enough, to make this govt service work, when you get a solicitor calling you, get all the info you can on them, number, company, time %26 date, what they are selling. Then you need to go to the donotcall website and click the button for File a Complaint, and fill in all the info you have on the company that called you. That%26#39;s why so many people keep getting calls from the same places, they aren%26#39;t filing a complaint, and so the govt. doesn%26#39; t know these companies are breaking the law, so they can%26#39;t enforce the HUGE fines they do, if no one tells them it%26#39;s happening. Please let any one you know about filing a complaint to help stop this companies from breaking the law and bothering us :) The best thing to do is to mess them when they call you, u no, have fun with them who are they? If they are a telemarketer..tell them to put you on thier do not call list of youll sue add your name to the national do not call list, it would be illegal for them to continue calling you. You also should call them back tell them not to call. I called and it sounds like a place for student loans, maybe its a collection agency trying to reach you payment. If thats the case they can continue calling even with your name and number on the do not call list. Get on the no call list immediately. Also, call your phone carrier and can block the calls and tell you who to contact to file a complaint.
Hope you feel better soon!

Contact your land-line +/or cell phone service provider%26#39;s customer service department(s). Request to speak with a customer service representative (CSR) who is knowledge-able about obtaining international capabilities with the phone you intend to use on a regular or frequent basis to make international calls.
Once you are connected with that CSR, informed them, specifically, of which foreign countries (including Canada %26 Mexico should they be on your list) you intend to be calling. Beware, the more countries, more of the cost.
Phone companies usually offer "International Package Deals". Depending which "package" you decide to sign-up for; there%26#39;s a possibility of various discounted rates. Perhaps, even a "Free Call" permitted? But at a specified time and for a specified length of "talk time" when making the call.
Just be certain to get everything in writing first, before placing your first phone call! I had a so called, "Package Deal" with A.T. %26 T. in order to make calls to Dublin, Ireland. My calls were generally placed between 12 Midnight and by 8:00 am. As it turned out, I was getting ripped off by A.T. %26 T.! What I had been initially told by the International CSR compared what my overseas billing amounted to, it was a disaster!
I attempted, on two separate occasions, to contact someone on their cell phone, a weekend apart. Neither cell phone call could be connected. Yet, I was billed $7.85 for both calls! Go figure?
I am guessing you got an e-mail telling you that you had won something. It%26#39;s a scam you should not tell them anything, just delete the mail if you have given any bank or credit card details notify your bank and the police immediately. Never answer anything you don%26#39;t understand and be careful. Who? can you give us a bit more info?
who is %26#39;them%26#39;? Have you had an e-mail with "fantastic news" telling you that you have won, or inherited a fortune? If so, ignore it, it%26#39;s a scam, under no circumstances should you send details of bank accounts etc, you will regret it . Ignore all such e-mails, better still, set up filters in your e-mail to stop them reaching your in box. If this was a phone call, then you have been "cold called", there is a BT number you can ring that will trace the call and monitor the number, and put it on a list of cold callers. These work in much the same way as scam e-mails, and the answer to them is the same, tell them nothing! Hope this helps. don%26#39;t give information out over the phone
The answers post by the user, for information only, CeQnA.com does not guarantee the right.
Who could it be? Is there a way to trace it?
Most phone companies let you subscribe to a feature that doesn%26#39;t allow blocked number calls to go through. The person with the blocked number has to dial a special code that reveals their number if they want to call you. dialing *69 calls back the last person who called you.. I%26#39;m not sure whether it works with blocked numbers, but it%26#39;s worth a try :) u cannot do anything because the phone number u had was used buy a previous owners form other phone company so they just switch u around with some one Else%26#39;s no. Don%26#39;t worry about the calls, it is either a bill collector or phone solicitor. call your phone company and tell them you dont want blocked calls to be able to call you. I don%26#39;t have an answer, but I am amused that your question is not a question at all Ahhh yes, the typical stalker
Telephone companies are more than happy to help stop abusive phone calls. Call 611 and tell them that someone is harassing you, and they will start keeping a record for you.
Depending on how many times they call you, the telephone company can either block them permanently or contact them for you. They will not tell you the number of the person who called.
good luck If they%26#39;re not leaving a message, it%26#39;s probably not important. Better things to do than being a reverse "stalker". Call your phone company and tell them you donnot want to except any more blocked calls. You cannot dail *69 to see who it was b/c the number they are calling from is blocked. It%26#39;s probably just a bill collector. If they don%26#39;t leave a message, they didn%26#39;t want anything to begin with. ask your server

yes, it%26#39;s real easy..you%26#39;re up and running within 5 minutes, most ppl in Europe use Skype.I do with all my friends..you also can use a webcam! Hello. First of all, you both need to have mics for your respective PCs, then you both need to have a copy of the Skype program installed onto your PC%26#39;s. From there you can add eachother onto the Skype contact list and then start talking using the mics and the software in real time. One thing you may need to consider is if both of your internet speeds are fast enough to handle that information load. Other than that, it real easy and can get started really quickly. I believe you can go to www.skype.com to download the free software. Good luck.

The phone company said I can now do this. I unhooked black and yellow from previous number but don%26#39;t know what colors to hook back up.
Since this is an extension phone, just open the box of your main phone and look to see which wires are used. Use the same ones. Usualy the Red %26 Green are used. red/green or blue(white)/white(blue) are usually connected together for line 1... you may only have green/red if your wiring is older...
yellow/black or orange(white)/white(orange) are usually connected to line 2... again if your wiring is older it may only have yellow/black
as long as you connect to the wires at the NID, or from the jack you are extending the dial tone from, and connect the same color at either end of the wire, it doset really matter it will work, just following the color code will make it easier to troubleshoot in the future
unless there is no other choice try not to "split" the pair by using green/yellow, or green/black or red/black or red/yellow. the wires are in twisted pairs, and if you "split" the pairs you increase the risk of reciving an induction trouble,

I can use DSL but not phone. my # 661 829 1974
You might want to remove your phone number from here as a security precaution. Just a thought.
If you have a volt meter, the first suggestion is a great idea, just make sure you disconnect the incoming line and measure the voltage coming from the pole.
If not, here is a small thing you can try, typically there is what is called an 8-position alarm jack located right around the alarm panel (It looks like a phone plug but bigger). Try unplugging it and seeing if that makes a difference. If the problem is still there, the problem is not your alarm system. It is quite possible for ADSL to be live but the actual phone to be dead. Although they are linked by the same phone number I have seen it happen.
If you are somewhat technical you can also try to go back to the protector - AKA DEMARC (Grey box outside the house - if it is a newer house). Take a telephone wall plate and phone with you.
- Take the 2 wires coming from the pole (Typically red and Green or blue and white) - may be different if there are multiple lines. Connect these wires to the red and green terminals on your wall plate.
- Plug a phone in, if it works the problem is with the lines in your house, if not, the problem is outside your home call the Telco. You need to check for dial tone at the D-Mark, usually a small grey box outside your house where the phone line enters your home. If you get tone there, the problem is somewhere in your house phone wiring. Be advised that sometimes there are wiring conflicts between the DSL line and certain alarm systems that may take a well-qualified tech to resolve. make sure you plug into the security jack and test the line most alarm systems have rj31x jacks that stop dial tone on the house side so the alarm can dial without being interupted

You want to check out INFOBEL.com and navigate to Austalia and check out if there%26#39;s any reverse directory enquiries for that country.
It maybe , of course that the number isnt registered and that way you cant find out.
Another idea is to call that number back, anonymously, and make something up to pry some info out of him or her Report it to Telstra - Nuisance Phone Calls! I don%26#39;t know if they do australia numbers but i know that if you go to www.whitepages.com you can reverse the phone number and it gives info on who it is. And who it belongs to. it%26#39;s me...see if you can track me down. if i keep finding you, you should be able to find me. You don%26#39;t need to. Just call the phone company and complain.

is there a way to look up just a phone number
Try entering the phone number into the search box on google (http://www.google.com). If that doesn%26#39;t get any results, try:
http://www.anywho.com/rl.html
http://www.switchboard.com/swbd.main/dir...
http://phonenumbers.addresses.com/phone.
http://www.reversephonedirectory.com/...
If it%26#39;s a cell phone, you%26#39;re not likely to find it. You could also call your telephone service provider and tell them you%26#39;re not paying for the call unless they tell you who it is. Sometimes that works.
Good luck! ring it! put 141 before you dial the number then it will withhold your number. Call it!
The Rat I like this site:
http://www.whitepages.com/10001/reverse_... Yes, but if you call your service provider and explain that you cannot verify the call, they might be better able to help you identify who the party is. Try typing it in to Google or Yahoo search. If it belongs to a business, it might come up if they advertise on the web.
Otherwise, all you can do is ring it and see who answewrs - then you%26#39;ll have a number on your next phone bill that you don%26#39;t recognise. If it%26#39;s only for a small amount, you might just want to ignore it. To get the number the person had to use some identifier of yours. In most states that is identity theft. If you want you can follow the instructions on trying to find out who has the number but why would you want to play cop. Instead protect yourself. By the way the phone number will come back to you, it is on your bill.
1. call your phone company and tell them it is not yours.
2. make a police report
3. check your credit report with one of the major agencies. See if there are any other things opened without your knowledge. It is free from https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/i...
do not sign up for anything that you have to pay for unless you want to, youdon;t need it.
4. if you do find anything else go to step 1 %26 2 again for each. Reverse Directory and if you/they have a cell it might not work

It%26#39;s a land line, not a cell phone.
To find your number, just dial 1-800-444-4444. A service provided by MCI.It will read it back to you.!! You should be able to call any cell phone, or a house phone that has caller Id. Then your number should come up. Why don%26#39;t you just call someone with a caller ID? call your cell or a friends cell//home and let caller ID pick it up.
or have fun with it by calling a random number to see if they could tell ya ;-) use the phone to call someone with caller id give a call on any friends Mobile phone
ask him what is the number appearing
that is your landline%26#39;s number Is it a cell phone? if so call your house phone and let the # appear on the caller Id( if you have caller id, LOL ). If it is a house phone, call one of your friends and have them tell you what is the # that comes up on their caller id. why don%26#39;t you call yourself on the cellphone, it will show the number.or call the operator and as her?

In order for you to make out going calls from your home you would have to have a second phone line. Which can be costly in some areas. You would be better off upgrading to a cable or DSL line; which in some cases it can be cheaper than running two phone lines. You can however receive in coming phone calls through an Internet voice mail service so that you never miss any phone calls. Those too can be costly as well. YOU CAN%26#39;T You can%26#39;t. You need two different phone lines. That is the downside of have dial-up. You can%26#39;t, not unless you use a cell phone. you have to have digital cable NO way Jose, can%26#39;t be done! you will need another phone line or you can get a program such as Skype from Google but it cost more than another land line would. There are dial-up modems available that will signal you when a call comes in when you are on the Internet ...you can then answer the call and put your Internet surfing on hold without disconnecting.
Suggested alternate solution-See what kind of deal you can get on DSL in your area..your internet connection speed will be much faster and it does%26#39;nt interfer with normal phone use. ON that level of service you wouldn%26#39;t be able to. Needing DSL is much better. I have it, its great! ( the cost I believe it varys in where your at, but it should be too much from dial-up.)

I want to hook a home phone up in my office area but my modem is plugged into the phone jack how can I hook it all up and still make it work?
easy.the base-phone is connected to your computer modem...all other extensions only need an electrical outlet.you don%26#39;t have to plug it in anything, that%26#39;s the beauty about digital broadband phones.you can have up to 10 extensions all over your house!
ps. the base-phone has an build-in router and firewall. My digital phone service was through my cable company so I may have had a different situation than yours, but I had an open phone jack on the back of my modem. assuming you have DSL since your modem is connected to the phone jack... also assuming that your "digital phone" is VoIP.
replace the jack that your DSL is connected to with a double outlet jack, or add a second jack next to where your DSL jack is located...
on the DSL jack connect the green/red or blue/white to the green/red on the jack.
on the "new" jack... or 2nd plug for the double jack, connect the yellow/black, or orange/white to the green/red
if you are using a phone by where the VoIP ATA is right now, then put a 2 way splitter into the jack, connect a line cord from the ATA to the splitter, and a line cord from the splitter to your phone... then go to your NID outside, and make sure that all of the yellow/black and/or orange/white wires are connected to eachother... then go to the rest of the jacks in your home and take the green/red wires off, and connect the yellow/black, or orange/white wires to the green/red connectors of each jack...
this will give you your VoIP line on all of your jacks in your home...

i bought a new adaptor specifications 9V DC and 500 mAmp. the answering machine is working but the line is not getting energised. however the phone rings on the incoming call and the answering machine if on, receives the messsage. but u cannot talk by lifting the cordless.
the handset is also not getting charged
make sure you leave the battery to charge for a full day before you use the handset.
It%26#39;s also possible that the battery does not charge anymore. Does the phone work using the speaker and microphone on the base ?
The manual is at http://www.uniden.com/pdf/exa7950om.pdf... and calls for 9V DC 350 mA so you should be ok. Make sure the polarity is right (center is + or - ? a diagram should be near the socket on the phone)
Give Uniden a call and they are usually very helpful. 1-800-297-1023 M-F, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM CST

It annoys me so much, because they call so much and I get up to check the phone, and its them! I used to be a telemarketer so I know its just a job, but I can%26#39;t help and get so annoyed!! HELP any suggestions.
If you put your phone number on the do not call list and somebody calls you for telemarketing then you can sue them, but if somebody calls you because of a debt like in credit cards you can%26#39;t. The link is at http://www.donotcalllist.gov You have to wait for 31 days though before you file a complaint. You could also file a complaint in their website if somebody does try to offer you something. fun with telemarketers. google it and have fun! Have your number added to the "do not call" list. It really works. Sign your number up for the do not call list. The government put out this website! I haven%26#39;t gotten a call in such a long time!
https://www.donotcall.gov Not only sign up for the do not call list, but you can hook up a recorder to your phone to get there name and company. Then tell them your on the do not call list and ask them why their calling. For the few that slip through the cracks you can get approx. $500-2000 in small claims court! here we go!!
http://www.telephonetribute.com/signal_a... there%26#39;s nothing you can do, even you add to donot call list , they still call, but try it so, if you can not find better way In addition to the "do not call" list, you can subscribe to "call intercept" with your telephone company. Anyone that calls you with no number appearing on caller ID, will get a recording. They must leave their name, THEN your phone will ring and tell you the recorded name. You then decided if you want to take the call or not. If they don%26#39;t leave a name, your phone won%26#39;t ring at all. Good luck. those telemarketers are real PAINS IN THE HIND PARTS! One thing you can try in addition to donotcall.gov is if you do happen to answer and find a telemarketer on the line, say "Please take me off your call list and do not call this number again". Keep in mind that some calls are legal. Calls from charitable organisations, for one. If you sign up on a web site for "further info" or check a box that says it%26#39;s OK to call you, you will get calls as well. Add your number to the do not call list as mentioned. When they call tell them to take you are the do not call list and to take you off their list or you will report them to the fcc. I know they are annoying, but I%26#39;d get caller ID so you know when they call. I always get them at my house and usually they say a random state, or unavailable, or an 888 number. Most of the time they are voice recorded ones, and if you can bear to listen to the end, you can usually push a button to get offf their calling list. They%26#39;ll usually say "Press 2 to be removed" or something like that.

yes, the first guy is correct...you need filters on every phone extension in your house. That usually means that you haven%26#39;t installed filters on your phone lines. Verizon should have provided a number of these with the install kit they shipped you (or the technician should have taken care of it if you had a house call). Filters are these little boxes where one end plugs into the wall socket and you plug your phone into the other end. You need to put these on every phone or fax device in the house, but don%26#39;t put one on the DSL line itself.

I have a decent DSL stream of 1.5 mbps and a pretty decent upload..we have had Vonage for some time now and the service sucks..the quality of the sound is bad, the line is staticy, very scratchy, cuts in and out.I tried to call and cancel but they put me on hold for 45 minutes only to tell me their account managers are gone for the weekend. Is there anything I can do? My DSL is pretty much at max speed? Are there better VoIP services out there?
yes, I also have Packet8 for over three years now.and never had a problem! I take my equipment to Germany, or use my Packet8 Softfone for free...also never had a problem.P8 packet are send totally different from Vonage.I think that%26#39;s the reason it works so great, and they don%26#39;t spend all there money on advertising! Packet8
We live in Germany and use the Voip to call the states for a cheap price $25 for unlimited calls. U should look into it. First, go to the home page of Vonage. look in the options where is asks you how much bandwidth you want to use. Choose 90k which is QOS 711, which is equal to a landline phone. Anything less then 90k i.e. 45k or 60k will be less desirable. The 60k is QOS G723 and 45k of bandwidth is G729. The QOS stands for Quality of Service and when you talk about VoIP this is the terms needed to understand the quality of your call.
By the way, by choosing the 90k of bandwidth for Vonage, you are cutting your cable speed by 90k. Not a big deal, but something you need to understand...
Don%26#39;t listen to all the other nonsense Hello
I have read many review about various VOIP providers. I personally feel that Vonage are not only bad but they insist on equipment which work only for their service... its like being tied up to one provider for the whole life. Well I personally recommend VIA-Talk. Its not that costly and has good reviews not from my side but from so many other people.

Panasonic KX-TA624 is the model. I searched the web but was not successful in finding someone in Maryland (DC suburbs) area that services home PBX.
Look up telephone companies either in the Verizon Directory or on line for companies that install phone systems Pick any that show Panasonic they can do it for a price The 624 can also use regular single line analog phones if you need to replace a phone in an emergency
Bob Check with the previous owner. Many manufacturers put their user documentation on-line nowadays; see if Panasonic%26#39;s web site has anything. Failing that, go to www.user-manuals.com and see if they have anything. (They charge a fee for delivering documents; for my stereo, it was ten bucks.) Try Hello Direct .com If you can get it, have Verizon to get you hooked up with a new system. They dont charge for new installation customers.

I was wondring who it is or why its that way. is there an actual area code of 000?
or is it a phone error (i have siemens gigaset 4010)
what the heck is a "siemens gigaset 4010"? Are you showing off? Why don%26#39;t you call your phone provider and ask the same question? Unless you keyed that # into your memory bank prior to the call, it must be your provider%26#39;s issue.
I give numbers like that to people I want IN my list and whose # I don%26#39;t yet have. Call your provider! did you try calling that # and if you did mabe it was a prank or something - no your phone just didn%26#39;t pick up the signal, maybe because of area interferences, there is no area code 000.,
http://www.areacodes.com
good luck,.., it%26#39;s most likely a prank call or a telemarketer It%26#39;s possible to spoof your phone number. You can cause any number you want to be displayed at the receiving end. Some companies and individuals do this to hide their true ID. Maybe someone was trying to prank you, since such an obvious false number would raise suspicions It could also be a phone error. no its not the area code but sometimer ur service provider for ypur cell phone if- when they call u usually thats what it comes up as. i dont know y or how but at least thats what happened for me n a few friends. i hope this helps have a great weekend. it was either a restricted number or a phone error. it was most likely a phone error though since all the calls that I get when they are restricted pull up as restricted. thats who the text messages of who left me the voicemail number...maybe it was because of a blocked caller or an error on your phone

They don%26#39;t have a ringer button. You have push the %26#39;menu%26#39; button and scroll down to %26#39;handset setup%26#39; to adjust the ringer or change the tone. I don%26#39;t know which model you have but I would imagine they are similar.

ok somebody with a wierd number called the number was 98137835 thats what it said in my calls thing.and i anwsered and i heard like talking in the background and then they hung up.and i tried to call it and it said that they dont take numbers like that.what should i do?
do nothing. Its not the end of the world. just a wrong number
the number doesn%26#39;t have enough digits to be a US number. It maybe from another country.
maybe thats why you can%26#39;t dial it. you%26#39;ll need country codes that aren%26#39;t listen on that "calls thing".
although I think international calls usually come from other countries and hit a VOIP state side then send the call to you (the VOIP should have a legit 10 digit number)
I show no 981 area code in the US block that number on ur phone and never call them back ignore it . if it happens again tell someone put the crack pipe down that number looks Australian. You%26#39;re probably being tapped by Bush%26#39;s illegal wiretapping program. It was probably a prank. Some websites allow you to do prank phone calls and even do them for you. Like www.monkeydoo.com You should probably just ignore it. I bet someone just called it by accident that%26#39;s why no one was talking directly into the phone. Death call, the noise you heard in the background is what you will hear before your tragic death.
Good luck Just write down exactly what happened and the number. It was probably innocent and in a few days you can throw that piece of paper out. if it wasnt a real number, it was a prank. I saw this webite where u could record a message and put in the number to call and it would call the number and play back the message.u would also put the number it would show on caller id, etc. maybe that! It%26#39;s the devil from hell!
