How can I disable privacy manager on my phone?

I have privacy manager on my phone (AT%26T) and cannot remember the password to bypass this when I%26#39;m calling home from overseas, and its costing me an extra minute or two to finally connect. I want to disable it for 2 weeks and I am currently overseas so I cannot call AT%26T and not sure how long it will be for them to answer an e-mail. get a good VoIP provider, and then you can get virtual number so only 3.99 a month.8000 anything you want. He%26#39;ll need to have the incumbant operator (Nepal Telephone; or whatever their technical name is) establish a toll free number there. There are likely restrictions about using it as a calling card platform, from hotels, from payphones, from cell phones, etc.

If you have operations in North America or Europe, probably the best thing to do is to ask your local operator there to see if they can get a Nepalese TF number provisioned for you.

Expect significant costs to the end user, a fair # of restrictions, and likely slow provisioning if it can be done at all. I%26#39;m not sure Nepal is able to do much with TF numbers (or wishes to).

Your local operator can go to one of the big long-haul international guys (like Teleglobe) who has a connection with Nepal Telephone %26 Telegraph and see if international toll free is available.

Aside from the monthly basic charge, you have to pay for that call from any person for connecting the call from the landline to your cellphone. Meaning, the person who is calling you will pay the charge until the landline only and from the landline to your cellphone, it will be billed to you. That is our case here. Though you could both receive the calls. Simple! but you have to subscribe to a call forwarding feature to begin with. Call your local phone company and tell them you want call forwarding. What you should opt for if it is available is "remote" call forwarding which allows you to forward and UNforward your home phone not only while you%26#39;re still at home but also from any other phone. For instance, say you went to a friend%26#39;s house and you decided to stay overnight. You can dial your access number that the phone company will assign you for your call forwarding and then press in the 4 digit access code (since you%26#39;re calling from a number other than your home number) and then it will ask you to what number you want to forward your calls to and then it%26#39;s done. You can forward your home phone to your friend%26#39;s landline, your cellphone, your friend%26#39;s cellphone, etc etc, you get the picture. Then when you decide to change it to be forwarded to another number, you simply repeat the process, UNforward it and then do it again and forward to another number. 866-850-1750 KEEPS calling all day. I am pregnant and sick and really really tiered of the phone ringing. I tried to answer, but there%26#39;s no one there. I work for the phone company, but unfortunately I can get you access to what 866 that number is, but I know where you should be able to find out who it belongs too :) On Monday call 1-800-555-1212, that is the 800 directory assistance group, when you get the automated system asking what the name of the company you want an 800 number for, just reply OPERATOR, it will get you to a live person. Ask them if they can do a reverse look up for that number. Then you can know who it is calling. Also I have said this many times on here in regards to the donotcall registry. Registering is not enough, to make this govt service work, when you get a solicitor calling you, get all the info you can on them, number, company, time %26 date, what they are selling. Then you need to go to the donotcall website and click the button for File a Complaint, and fill in all the info you have on the company that called you. That%26#39;s why so many people keep getting calls from the same places, they aren%26#39;t filing a complaint, and so the govt. doesn%26#39; t know these companies are breaking the law, so they can%26#39;t enforce the HUGE fines they do, if no one tells them it%26#39;s happening. Please let any one you know about filing a complaint to help stop this companies from breaking the law and bothering us :) The best thing to do is to mess them when they call you, u no, have fun with them who are they? If they are a telemarketer..tell them to put you on thier do not call list of youll sue add your name to the national do not call list, it would be illegal for them to continue calling you. Telephone companies are more than happy to help stop abusive phone calls. Call 611 and tell them that someone is harassing you, and they will start keeping a record for you.

Depending on how many times they call you, the telephone company can either block them permanently or contact them for you. They will not tell you the number of the person who called.

Usualy the Red %26 Green are used. red/green or blue(white)/white(blue) are usually connected together for line 1... you may only have green/red if your wiring is older...

yellow/black or orange(white)/white(orange) are usually connected to line 2... again if your wiring is older it may only have yellow/black

as long as you connect to the wires at the NID, or from the jack you are extending the dial tone from, and connect the same color at either end of the wire, it doset really matter it will work, just following the color code will make it easier to troubleshoot in the future

If you have a volt meter, the first suggestion is a great idea, just make sure you disconnect the incoming line and measure the voltage coming from the pole.

If not, here is a small thing you can try, typically there is what is called an 8-position alarm jack located right around the alarm panel (It looks like a phone plug but bigger). Try unplugging it and seeing if that makes a difference. If the problem is still there, the problem is not your alarm system. It is quite possible for ADSL to be live but the actual phone to be dead. replace the jack that your DSL is connected to with a double outlet jack, or add a second jack next to where your DSL jack is located...

on the DSL jack connect the green/red or blue/white to the green/red on the jack.

on the "new" jack... or 2nd plug for the double jack, connect the yellow/black, or orange/white to the green/red

if you are using a phone by where the VoIP ATA is right now, then put a 2 way splitter into the jack, connect a line cord from the ATA to the splitter, and a line cord from the splitter to your phone... then go to your NID outside, and make sure that all of the yellow/black and/or orange/white wires are connected to eachother... then go to the rest of the jacks in your home and take the green/red wires off, and connect the yellow/black, or orange/white wires to the green/red connectors of each jack...

this will give you your VoIP line on all of your jacks in your home...

We live in Germany and use the Voip to call the states for a cheap price $25 for unlimited calls. U should look into it. First, go to the home page of Vonage. look in the options where is asks you how much bandwidth you want to use. Choose 90k which is QOS 711, which is equal to a landline phone. Anything less then 90k i.e. 45k or 60k will be less desirable. The 60k is QOS G723 and 45k of bandwidth is G729. The QOS stands for Quality of Service and when you talk about VoIP this is the terms needed to understand the quality of your call.

By the way, by choosing the 90k of bandwidth for Vonage, you are cutting your cable speed by 90k. Not a big deal, but something you need to understand...

I personally feel that Vonage are not only bad but they insist on equipment which work only for their service... its like being tied up to one provider for the whole life. Well I personally recommend VIA-Talk. Its not that costly and has good reviews not from my side but from so many other people.

Does anyone know of any providers that will do this for $20 or less/month? I got rid of my cable internet b/c it was too expensive, but if I have to pay ~$10 for internet and $20-40 for a phone line that I will NEVER use except for the internet, then I will just go back (reluctantly).

Sorry, they%26#39;re not cheap anymore. Usually a phone land line is bundled up with all sorts of things like 3-party calling, lots of unneeded and unwanted extras, to boost the price.

There is a ghost in ur phone tell it to go towards the light or either pay half the phone bill! It can be being picked up either by your equipment or on the incoming line, contact your service provider. If they cannot fix it, purchase a couple of ferrite rings from a hi-fi shop, wrap the incoming wire (separately) through the centre and around the outer 4 or 5 times (each wire). You will need to disconnect the wire within the primary incoming socket to do this, so do it one wire at a time, noting where you took it from in order to put it back correctly. Maybe, I work for verizon and here are the two tests I recommend when at work.

First take a known, good working telephone (preferably corded instead of cordless) and a slotted screw driver to the Telephone Network Interface (test box). It is usually a gray or green plastic box attached to the outside wall of your house near the electrical meter. For mobile homes it may be on a stake in the lawn. You can open the box by removing a screw in the cover, inside is a Network Interface Jack (test jack) for each line at the residence. Plug in and check for the static, if you hear it, don%26#39;t worry about it and call your service provider, this is their trouble.

(unless you roam) Example, if I live in Florida and travel to California and make a local call in California, it is like I am in Florida making that call. There is no real reason to have a %26#39;land line%26#39; anymore. With cable modem and cell phones, who needs to waste the money? I%26#39;ve saved almost $55 per month by ditching the unused land line. the only disadvantage would be more realiable services for 911.

Currently, 911 can%26#39;t pinpoint your location, they can only guess. What if you call them and can%26#39;t speak? They have no way of knowing where you are. Also, wireline is%26#39; more realiable, since it is copper line all the way to the switch, which has generator backup. Wireless towers often go down (out of service) during storms and can lose power.

This is the only reason I keep my land line%26lt; since my wife is ashmatic and we absolutely need realiable 911 services. It%26#39;s up to you. But talking on cell phones for extended periods of time will A. drain the battery fast maybe interfering with your communications (It says in most cell phone manuals not to talk on your phone while it%26#39;s charging because it could short your phone out) and B. could possibly give you a tumor in the long run. I%26#39;d check www.cnet.com to see how much radiation your phone emits. If it%26#39;s alot maybe get another phone that emits less. The LG chocolate is pretty good in that regard. What%26#39;s good about this is, IF you should have an emergency and you didn%26#39;t have another means of calling.like your cellphone was broken or lost etc., you could still make phone calls if you HAD to. I hope this helps as it%26#39;s a great plan for people who don%26#39;t really need to make outgoing calls on their landline, as it%26#39;s a lot less expensive for them. AT%26T has a basic plan which you can take... its either $3.95 or $4.95 a month... if you would like to make calls it only costs 1cent per minute... its basically for people who need a phone line only for DSL... I think it should work for you since you only want to receive calls i have seen phones that did not have a dial pad.. i am unsure where these were purchased.. but i have also seen devices that connect to the line cord, and lock, which prevents outgoing phone calls..

you can also request a pin for outgoing calls from your phone provider... although i am unsure if any of the CLECs or resellers will provide you with this, verizon usuallay does this for people who have a problem with thieft of service.. but they do not like to normallay put this feature on the line... as a tech, i have had a hard time in the past tring to get this feature added to customers who i believed had possible thieft of service issues...

If you purchase a computer microphone to plug into the microphone jack on the back of your PC, you can go to "start button/programs/accessories/ entertainment /sound recorder" on your PC and then play the message on your phone while holding the microphone close to the receiver.

You could also call Bell Canada and ask them if they could email the messages to you in a .wav file.

Very likely your hotel is blocking international calls from your phone. Go talk to the front desk to see if they%26#39;ll unblock it. Mind you, they%26#39;re going to make you pay for these calls.

If they won%26#39;t unblock, find a prepaid calling card and make calls that way, either with the landline phone at the hotel or your cellphone, though you%26#39;ll be chewing up airtime that way.

You%26#39;re probably using a laptop right now. You could use VoIP via one of the IM services (e.g., Yahoo Messenger) with a headset, if you%26#39;ve got one already.
