I like to walk around the house with my headset on, on my cordless phone. I%26#39;m concerned about the neighbors being able to "listen". Is there a way to eliminate this possiblity, if it exists?
Any thoughts, friends?
Answers:
Not really, most phones have frequency hopping and other security features that makes it difficult to monitor somebody else%26#39;s cordless phone conversation. A skilled EE could if they wanted to. YES. in fact, i have a good friend that has all kinds of equipment and he can listen to any cordless home phone, and there are alot of people that have this kind of equipment. this guy literally sits on this thing for fun and tries to pick up frequencies,
also, if you have a baby monitor, almost anyone can pick those things up! so carefull what you say in a room like that, or dont use one and just dont be lazy!
i have a rule, i NEVER use a cordless phone, i NEVER use a baby monitor, i dont even like cell phones! When my oldest son was a baby, I could hear my neighbor talking on their phone every morning, through the baby monitor. It was only in the morning and we could only hear one side of the conversation. I don%26#39;t know if it was a cell or cordless phone, why we could only pick it up in the morning, or why we could only hear her side of the conversation. It was strange to say the least. Trust me, I learned the hard way that phone chats via a cordless, can be picked up. I was talking to a friend from work one day, about another co worker, %26 somehow, my evil neighbor picked up what I was saying, not my friend%26#39;s input, because she could only hear me talking %26 my neighbor called the party we were talking about %26 whom my neighbor knew, (just my luck) %26 told her what I said. I was confronted at work about what I had said about this co worker, %26 I repeated it almost word for word. I wasn%26#39;t going to lie, %26 I wanted the co worker to hear exaclty what I said. Apparently, my neighbor picked up my part of the conversation via a police scanner or something electronic, or so she told the co worker we were talking about. She may have picked up my conversation via a baby monitor. I stopped using my cordless while living next to her. Now, I am very careful what I say when using it, even know I have moved south. You have to be careful!! It is possible to pick up any signal that is broadcast. The newer Ghz based phones with multiple channels make it highly unlikely. The baby monitors usually pick up the 900 mhz band phones. (Older) Baby monitors are really bad to send your word across the neighborhood! Watch out with them.
