Answers:

You need to go to www.donotcall.gov that is the government National Do Not Call Registry. Make sure to add this to your Favorite Sites. As you will see when you go there, it takes 31 days for your phone to be put on the list. You can put your cell phones on it as well. Contrary to what someone else said about it doesn%26#39;t work, it does work, but when you get a call from a telemarketer, you need to get all the info you can about the number calling- number, date/time, name of the company. If you talk to a human being, tell them to take you off your list and that you are on the donotcall list. Then go back to the donotcall site and there is a button you can click to file a complaint against that and any other telemarketers that call you. I get people saying all the time it doesn%26#39;t work, and my reply is always the same...if someone commits a crime against you and you don%26#39;t report it, to the police how are they going to know it happened? same principle applies in this case. Something else you need to understand- the donotcall applies to telemarketers, people who want to sell you something. It doesn%26#39;t want apply to non profit groups, like politician, fire and police organizations, fund raising groups ect... I don%26#39;t know who your telephone company is, but most the major ones have a great feature that goes with caller ID called, security screen, which I have on my phone. It is a recorded message that who ever calls you hears..."the person you are calling does not take solicitation calls, if you are a solicitors take this phone number off your list and hang up now! If you are not a solictitor please hang on the line or press 1 for and your call will go through" That is a legal message to stop those annoying sales calls as well. I don%26#39;t get any calls like that anymore. And when I did, I did file a complaint against them. The FCC charges big fines to companies who break the donotcall laws if they know about it.

Hope that helps :) They buy your phone number from different places, such as credit card companies, places you may have gone online to sign up for "free" products, and those little "win a trip for 2" contests that you see in restaurants.

I am on the "do not call list" and they still call randomly. When they do, I politely say "hold on please", set the phone down, and go about whatever I was doing before they annoyed me by calling.
