Is there such a thing as a converter that changes an electrical outlet to a telephone outlet?

Answer:

yes, you can get them at Target!! yes, you can buy one of those at wlal-mart or somewhere like that.. just as long as you have another phone hooked up to a regular jack somewhere else in the house. Yes.

http://www.techlore.com/article/10241/... Yes , such a device comes in three separate components. you hook plug the main component or sender to the nereast electrical plug use the phone source at this point then you plug the other components or receivers at that point to the closest electricl plugs here you conect the other lines. Done, by the way get them at radio shack of frys. 40 to 70 dollars. Yes, I do believe you go into a radio shack or walmart. Or you may can check at staples or office max, or circuit city or best buys. are you nuts?where did you get that idea?...you cannot do that..you can not have that its a different plug.telepehone outlet needs a telephone jack provided by your phone co. and the electrical outlet is provided by your electrical co. w/c are 2 diff entities

Is there such a thing as a phone jack that plugs into a regular electrical socket?

My mom wants to put a computer in a room w/no phone jack. She%26#39;s hoping to find a cheaper solution to having one installed. I%26#39;ve heard about wireless jacks, but they seem just as expensive as getting a regular one installed. Also, I hear they may interfere with my wirless internet router.

Answer:

Yes there are i just saw some acually. Go to Walmart there like 20 bucks there pretty cool Yes, there is such a thing. Nope. The phone line and electrical wiring are not the same. most all phones are recharged by electric. a cheap way to go is just to install the phone line ur self its really easy and only cost about 20 bucks depending on how much phone line u needall u have to do is open up the costumer part of ur phone connection on the side of the house disconnect the main line connect the green and red wires then run it under the house and straight up to where u need it and it will look like the phone company did it for about 200 dollars cheaper There is a device that you can purchase to turn every outlet in the house into a phone outlet as well but I don%26#39;t recommend that because of power suges that could destroy the phone modem of your computer.

A phone jack is very simple and inexpensive to install. A little wire and an jack from the radio shack will be less than 15 bucks and there are only 2 wires that need connected. Open up an existing jack, connect the wires to the same terminals as the ones already in it, and feed the wire along the edge of the carpet to where you want it or drill a hole through the wall if you feel confident.. If you already have a wireless internet router, why not add a wireless card too the other computer and network with it?

There is no way to hook a phone line cord into a reguar power outlet other than the wireless phone jack adapter that broadcasts the phone signal to another wireless jack pluged into an outlet elsewhere in the house. i explored this option one time and decided the chance of interference and slow speed that it would probably treansmit data was not worth the expense.

Lowes used to sell the wireless jacks, you may want to talk with one of their electrical specialists.

Is this a scam what type of scam? Recieved call caller on other end?

told me to put in my telephone number Which I did. Now I%26#39;m wondering if I was scammed.

Answer:

Uh, probably some kind of telemarketing device that%26#39;s going to give your number to everyone from credit cards to carpet cleaners...I mean, if you think about it, why would they ask you to input that info...they called you, so they should already have the number.you didn%26#39;t give them any other info, right? well DUH! most likely. why would anyone call your phone then ask for the number (that it just called and must know). hmm you did the right thing by coming on answers to find out what happened i hope you won%26#39;t do that again it might be dangerous. and plus i learned something my self.

Is Vonage better than Time Warner digital phone?

Answer:

vonage or other 3rd party VoIP providers send your signal over the internet... TW, and most other HSI providers sends your signal over there network, it is not a TRUE VoIP, and is alittle more secure.

as for price, you may get a better package deal with the cable company for bundling phone internet and tv... but as a stand alone product, you will have a better rate with another VoIP provider such as vonage...

with vonage you can get a virtual area code, and can bring your ATA with you when you travel and connect it to any HSI connection...

with voip from your cable provider, the ATA is part of your modem, and can not be brought with you when you travel so it is similar to a land line in that aspect... also most cable providers only offer local phone numbers.. no, both are VoIP. the difference is with TW you will have exellent customer service and they will come out to your house to fix things.with Vonage you%26#39;re one your own.. If you are looking for a voip phone, I would go with sunrocket. They are way better and for right now they have 3 months free.

Ive a bogus charge on my phone bill. Since this charge is bundled into the overall bill, how do i no

On this month%26#39;s Verizon telephone/DSL bill, I noticed I had a charge for $13.60 from ILD Teleservices for voice mail, something I did not order. I did some research and I found out that this scam is called "cramming" in the phone industry and the only way I can get it off my bill is by contacting the company that%26#39;s adding these services (wtf). Now, with all due respect, I do intend on calling this company and being diplomatic with them, but judging from other consumer stories about this company, chances are they will say keep paying them and they%26#39;ll issue a refund for all the charges in a few months.

Personally, I think paying a company that%26#39;s scamming you in the 1st place is a bit stupid. I noticed on my phone bill, Verizon states "your telephone service will not be disconnected for failure to pay the charges on this portion of your bill."

When I pay my bill, since the amount of all services is totaled up, how do I let verizon know I want to pay for all but the 1 fake "service"?

Answer:

First call the scamming agency and dispute the charge as fradulant and something you did not authorize. Then call your phone company directly and dispute the charge and explain. They should have no problem taking it off. I%26#39;d tell them.. %26#39;%26#39; IF YOU DON%26#39;T TAKE IT OFF, I%26#39;M SWITCHING PHONE COMPANIES%26#39;%26#39; Protest the contested item in writing, and state you will pay the bill when the matter is settled. If it is not settled VERY shortly, you will take it to the state utilities commission. They will stop their crap immediately. Call Verizon and have them remove the charge and block the company from putting charges on your bill again.

Ive got harrasing ppl calling my house really early in the morning?

The%26#39;ve blocked there id on my caller id phone. And then the called my house at 12am and my mom picked up and the started going on about how my cat is going to explode of tumors and is gonna die if we dont bring her to them.

And the second call at 2am they were going about how somethin was so f***ing asome. And my mom let it go staright to the machine.

What can i do about theses calls? I think its was some bullies from my previous school year. Im not getting any sleep now.

And in my area they can block there id by pressing *67 and then my phone #. Im not bellouth customer. I use my local engergy ppl.

So what can i do? Should my dad go to the police? How can i find out who these ppl are?

Answer:

Start with filing a complaint with the phone company; information is in the front of the phone book. They can do more to identify and locate at this point. Harrasing anyone over the phone line is a crime.

Call the police to at least report it. Then if anything else happens, that will be on file.

they suggest calling the phone company, also to report, they can make a report to the "annoyance desk" %26 they will investigate. They can tell who is making the calls.

The link below goes into detail on what to do: well anyone can block their number by using *67 I honestly would recommend the phone number being changed, seeing that the police probably wouldn%26#39;t do anything unless they were threatening phone calls. But going to the police can%26#39;t hurt, they can tell you whether they can help you or not. You can choose not to accept annonumous calls, there is a number u can put in, check it out in your phone book. hi
