My mom wants to put a computer in a room w/no phone jack. She%26#39;s hoping to find a cheaper solution to having one installed. I%26#39;ve heard about wireless jacks, but they seem just as expensive as getting a regular one installed. Also, I hear they may interfere with my wirless internet router.

Yes there are i just saw some acually. Go to Walmart there like 20 bucks there pretty cool Yes, there is such a thing. Nope. The phone line and electrical wiring are not the same. most all phones are recharged by electric. a cheap way to go is just to install the phone line ur self its really easy and only cost about 20 bucks depending on how much phone line u needall u have to do is open up the costumer part of ur phone connection on the side of the house disconnect the main line connect the green and red wires then run it under the house and straight up to where u need it and it will look like the phone company did it for about 200 dollars cheaper There is a device that you can purchase to turn every outlet in the house into a phone outlet as well but I don%26#39;t recommend that because of power suges that could destroy the phone modem of your computer.
A phone jack is very simple and inexpensive to install. A little wire and an jack from the radio shack will be less than 15 bucks and there are only 2 wires that need connected. Open up an existing jack, connect the wires to the same terminals as the ones already in it, and feed the wire along the edge of the carpet to where you want it or drill a hole through the wall if you feel confident.. If you already have a wireless internet router, why not add a wireless card too the other computer and network with it?
There is no way to hook a phone line cord into a reguar power outlet other than the wireless phone jack adapter that broadcasts the phone signal to another wireless jack pluged into an outlet elsewhere in the house. i explored this option one time and decided the chance of interference and slow speed that it would probably treansmit data was not worth the expense.
Lowes used to sell the wireless jacks, you may want to talk with one of their electrical specialists.
