Ive started to get a buzzing in the background on my landline phone,?

it%26#39;s on the main phone and the extension...any ideas,or do I have to call out BT?

Answer:

Try unplugging each phone in turn to see if they affect the buzzing. If that makes no difference, it could be the line itself or your internal cables with a problem.

Call BT to run a fault test before you tear out all your cables! They%26#39;ll test up to your main socket and as your problem includes the main phone it may turn out to be down to BT to fix.

Good luck. Have you checked whether there is a bee trapped in your ear? Its the busy bee at work on the line...:0) Sometimes that happens on mine just wait a week it should be gone then We had that problem and we called Bellsouth. Apparently when our sprinkler system was put in our line was cut.

They used some tape on it to "splice" it back together and it was unraveling. The guy came and repaired it and now our phone line is great. I don%26#39;t know if this will help you or not. if you`ve got broadband you need a new filter. call customer help just incase. Its a poor connection. Sometimes the connection can act like a diode and combined with the line acting as an aerial you can hear Radio 4! Contact BT and they will test the line and arrange a visit. You phone is being tapped? or you might have a faulty connection due to corrosion. Better to BT a call on Monday to see All those answers and so few with any decent content.

Alrighty Dave, here is the scoop. A lot of things can cause this. It is usually the sign of a failing or open connection.
