I live in a mobile home park and i am having trouble getting internet or even a home phone out there

Answer:

if you can not get phone or internet from the phone company, try the cable company.. if they can not help you, then your last 2 options are satellite (which can be expensive) for the internet, and a VoIP provider, or cellular...

sprint and verizon have the EV-DO network for broadband cellular internet.. (not as fast as DSL or cable modem, but much better then dial up)

cingular (the new at and t) has the EDGE network for broadband internet... however, the EV-DO technology is faster...

cellular internet costs about $50-70 depending on the plan, and if it is packaged with voice service..

EV-DO routers are available (i believe they cost about $200, so you can share your cellular internet with more then one computer.. get an air card from Verizon, Cingular or Sprint call the jerry springer 1800 number and ask steve to help u

I need an idea for a prank?

Answer:

hand in warm water while you sleep makes you pee Dress as a woman when you go to the next family event and tell your family you%26#39;re going to become a woman. They%26#39;ll just love that. Plant your state flower on your school%26#39;s football field. It is illeagle for the gardeners, or anyone, to kill or to remove the plants. yeah...do the cross dress thing...though id never do it. what kind of prank? on a friend?

try egging there house, toilet papering, painting his car with window paint (craft store 2 bucks), plastic wrap under the toilet seat so when they pee it splashes on them, dump a bucket of cold water on them when they are in the shower, shaving cream in the hand and tickle their nose, hand in warm water when sleeping, take their clothes when they shower, draw on them in sharpie when asleep, scream at them when they sleep so they wake up freaking out, put worms in their bed, hide something they really like, put their underwear outside, post an embarrising picture of them around town/school.

I need help from Vonage users!!?

Ok, the vonage website says I can choose a new area code and number. But when I put my area code in, my town doesnt come up on the list...does that mean that since my town isnt listed that I cant get it? Or can I get it, and then have a phone number from a different town that IS listed?? Can someone please tell me how this works. Much thanks

Answer:

be very careful and find out about it, because they lie alot! and when you already sign up, they got you!! you can use any area code, or even virtual phone-numbers! That%26#39;s usually the first thing you have to do before signing up. You can pick any area code. No problem.

Answer:

as far as the noise you need to install a filter at each phone. and i would suggest getting a 5.8GHZ cordless phone especially if you have a wireless router that is 2.4GHZ Get a wireless router. I have a netgear one that is fantastic. Pop down to PC world and get some advice on the best one, but I really like the netgear. Go wireless. To be honest I use Virgin broadband and am surprised by the problems other users have. Hope you get the problem sorted soon.

i need to call somebody out of state but im not allowed to call long distance.its a cell phone i have to call so i cant call collect.can i call the number but block it from showing up on my phone bill?

Answer:

no Can%26#39;t be done sorry. I%26#39;d call the phone company just to make sure. You need to talk to them, this much we know. Do you necessarily have to call them or could they call you? If you know the carrier that the person uses, a lot of times you can send text messages to them through the carrier%26#39;s web site. Even if you don%26#39;t know the carrier, go to www.whitepages.com and do a reverse number search for that telephone number. 90% of the time it%26#39;ll show the person%26#39;s carrier. Then you can text message them and get them to call you since most wireless contracts are nationwide. Best of luck Can%26#39;t be done. Is there a public pay phone nearby? Use that. Go buy a calling card. It will use an 800 number and it wont show on the bill. Costs starting at $5.00 Calling card is the best option, since you call and 800 number to place your call there is no trace of it on your phone bill! no

I need to get a landline phone connection that will only be used for my dial up internet. Needs to b

Does anyone know of any providers that will do this for $20 or less/month? I got rid of my cable internet b/c it was too expensive, but if I have to pay ~$10 for internet and $20-40 for a phone line that I will NEVER use except for the internet, then I will just go back (reluctantly).

BTW I live in PA if that helps

Answer:

Sorry, they%26#39;re not cheap anymore. Usually a phone land line is bundled up with all sorts of things like 3-party calling, lots of unneeded and unwanted extras, to boost the price.

So if you can get a phone line for $40, I%26#39;d say you%26#39;re doing great!!

I have same problem. I use my cell phone as main phone. Do not have a home phone. I%26#39;d like to get internet, but don%26#39;t want to pay that extra $$ for same reason, only internet use.

I played a phone prank, and now I may be in trouble.?

While calling my friend%26#39;s number on my cell phone phonebook, I pranked him (he has been pranking me before, and I decided to return the favor). Instead of recieving another prank, I got an angry man instead. He sounded annoyed, and later I recieved a voice mail where he stated I was in trouble, and he alerted the authorties. Now, I%26#39;m wondering what, if any, legal action I might be facing. The prank was about kidnapping his dogs (which I didn%26#39;t even knew existed), and demanding their return for an exorbant amount of money (like 1 million dollars). This may be another prank, or it could be serious, so what do I do?

Answer:

I dont think that the person you called would take it seriously enough to actually call the authorities. But if you do this again I would suggest blocking your number so it doesnt show up on caller id. *67 works great on landline phones and on your cellphone turn off the send my caller id feature. careful Yes, you can definitely get in trouble doing that. yeah, I%26#39;d go out to dinner with your family and let them know you will see them again in about 15 years.

Good luck. call back and apologize to the man and tell him the reason why u said that **** then tell ur parents what happened, also talk to ur friend i don%26#39;t get it. when you got "an angry man instead" why didn%26#39;t you tell him sorry wrong number? Or if you left a message couldn%26#39;t you tell by the greeting that it wasn%26#39;t your friend? or if it was a computer greeting wouldn%26#39;t you tell by the repeat of the number you called that it was not your friends number. looks pretty bad, and yes it%26#39;s federal felony serious. Man the same happened to me lol...

I recieving a lot static noises on my phone, can I fix it? What can I do?

Answer:

Sometimes the static comes from inside the line and have nothing to do with the phone. Try calling your service provider to check the line for you.

Hope this helps! u could buy a new one if you are using DSL then you have to have a filter on the phone line. There is a ghost in ur phone tell it to go towards the light or either pay half the phone bill! It can be being picked up either by your equipment or on the incoming line, contact your service provider. If they cannot fix it, purchase a couple of ferrite rings from a hi-fi shop, wrap the incoming wire (separately) through the centre and around the outer 4 or 5 times (each wire). You will need to disconnect the wire within the primary incoming socket to do this, so do it one wire at a time, noting where you took it from in order to put it back correctly. Maybe, I work for verizon and here are the two tests I recommend when at work.

First take a known, good working telephone (preferably corded instead of cordless) and a slotted screw driver to the Telephone Network Interface (test box). It is usually a gray or green plastic box attached to the outside wall of your house near the electrical meter. For mobile homes it may be on a stake in the lawn. You can open the box by removing a screw in the cover, inside is a Network Interface Jack (test jack) for each line at the residence. Plug in and check for the static, if you hear it, don%26#39;t worry about it and call your service provider, this is their trouble.

I want to get rid of my home phone but still need faxing ability. Is this possible?

Answer:

Yes it is possible. With Internet faxing you can send/receive faxes from your email. Faxes sent from your email will be delivered to your recipients fax machine. You will get your own personal fax number. All you need to sign up is Internet access and an email account.

Here is a review of the top Internet fax companies out there. Take a look: http://faxing-service-review.toptenrevie... Yes, if you still have internet. You can set up an EFax account for free and fax and receive through your computer. You might need a scanner, but odds are your fax is a three in one these days anyway. you can do it all through your computer. there is a company i use at work called callwave. i have a fax number that i give out, and when someone faxes me, it comes to my email in an adobe file. im not sure about sending faxes through the computer because i have never had to. i%26#39;m certain you can do it though. the service costs me 7.95 per month. just google callwave.com and you will be able to find all the info. good luck yes, you can get a special fax line . It will not go through your home phone line it will go through the line specifically for the fax machine. You can also do electronic faxing

I want to know who this 800 number belongs too?

They have called several times when I am unavail... When I try to call, I get a bust signal. I have tried too look it up with no sucess, so the first person that can tell me what kind of company this is, wins! The number is 800-968-1875- thx.

Answer:

When I have numbers call my phone that I do not know who they are I just type the number into google.com and usually it lists a couple websites stating quotes from people who are recieving the same calls. Also you can type in phonebook in the search engine on yahoo and it will have a reverse look up where you put in the phone number and it tells you who it is. It%26#39;s most likely a collection agency or solicitor of some type if their number does not work. Isn%26#39;t that the most frustrating thing ever? I figure if they can bother you in the middle of anything, you should be able to bother them right back. Zoinks. what do you win what a crapper! I called and got a busy signal too.. United Lending.

Hope that helps :) Maybe it is just telemarkarter, that%26#39;s probably why you can%26#39;t call them back. I usually go to ask.com and type in reverse phone look up and it will usually give you a description or city where the number is from, I tried looking it up and it says no information available. We have telmarketers calling here all the time its annoying. Goodluck! An internet search claims that it is United Lending Corporation, though when you type that in ,the 800 number does not match. I%26#39;d just let it go. Who wants to call back an 800 number anyway? all you have to do is go to www.donotcall.com or type in on google do not call website sign up and that blocks people such as advertisers from calling you you have to renew it like every year! hope I helped! I googled the phone number, and found an entry on www.whocalled.us, a great website to visit when someone who you don%26#39;t know calls you. Here is an entry I found there:

The company is called united lending corporation.the web site is gives you is www.cashadvancemutual.com and www.carloansurperb.com. i received a name an id from on of the callers.

I would recommend filing a complaint at www.donotcall.gov. You can find the complaint link on the left side of the screen.

Good luck! Sorry that you%26#39;re being bothered! call your local phone company and ask for address locator they can tell you for a small fee if its listed or not and if so who its listed too, its been asked before

I was curious if there was a way we can access our previous phone conversatons on our land lines?

We had an argument about what was said over the phone, and we now need somehow to prove what we said. Is there a way we can access our personal phone conversations? we have verizon..thanks

Answer:

who were you talking to?

no one is recording all of your phone conversations.. there is no database of calls made or recieved...

(well except for ECHELON but... that dosent exist, and the CIA dosent monitor all telephone and internet communications. )

if you were talking to a business and they record there phone calls (usuallay if there is a message "this call may be recorded for quality ... whatever") then the call MIGHT be recorded somewhere, and while highly unlikely, it may be possible to get a copy of that tape if you contact that business... with as much info about the call as possible, the date/time, cust. service rep... etc...

I was wondering if anyone knew of an online reverse telphone directory for the UK.?

I was wondering if anyone knew of an online reverse telphone directory for the UK. The type where you may have a phone number and it then gives you the name of the phone owner. It seem that the USA is awash with the things but the UK is a different matter

Answer:

It%26#39;s not actually legal to release %26#39;reverse directory%26#39; in the UK. the Data Protection Act will apply because all telephone subscribers details are held on computer databases solely for the declared purposes.

In the case of a subscriber%26#39;s address (especially if they%26#39;re ex-directory) that will only be for sending his bill and for fault finding.

Therefore, anything which enables tracing of an address from a phone number will break at least this law and severall others. I don%26#39;t, but what I have done and it sometimes works is to google the number in inverted commas I know the Data Protection Act may be a problem, but

1) You could try ringing the number and asking if some fictitious person is there, and then say %26#39;So to whom am I speaking?%26#39;

2) If its on your phone bill, ring your phone provider and say you dont recognise the number..I did that one, It was business number Iceland shop but they gave it to me anyway, without too many questions

If its a nuicence call to your landline or mobile get the police involved..that%26#39;l get you who they are...

And if its you that intends to make the nusience phonecall then sod off you dont deserve to know..if the person wanted you to have their number they would have given it to you with their full name and addy I found that the "Reverse Search" sites on TheFreePhoneSite.com are the best.

I work in an office and i wanted to know if you can get caller i.d. if it is not a direct line?

Okay so my boss and I share a phone line with 2 different ext%26#39;s and i want to know if the caller i.d would work if it%26#39;s not a direct line?

Answer:

no There has to be a direct line associated with your phone to have caller id, if you have a PBX ask the local tech if the system can have caller id on the trunks for you extension? It depends how things are set up. Yes you can have CLID without a direct line if your telephone system has the software and you have purchased the feature from the telephone company supplying your outside lines. Depends on your PBX. You have one line, that is then split into two lines. You may have caller id on just the one line. Because you and he share.

Example three wires coming in, only two are needed to operate the phone the phones share a common wire and have a seperate wire that is not shared. Hope this explains

If a person were to require the police in 1938. On the telephone would they dial them or require an

Answer:

You would have had to go through an operator the same as they do now(UK)the telephone operators (now) are trained BT employees or agency employees that stay on the line during the entire time you are talking to the emergency units. They listen in and ensure the line is not broken the call is also recorded.they use computers now as the old plug in wire system is long dead. Didn%26#39;t they just turn the handle around really fast and yell into the mouth piece %26#39;Quick operator - get me the police!%26#39;?

That%26#39;s how they do it in black and white movies anyway. Require an operator - look at those old Looney Tunes cartoon and anything to do with the 1930s and 1940s They would ask the operator, certainly in the United Kingdom direct dialling didn%26#39;t really start until after the war. it would depend a lot on the locale. city or rural, and how advanced the phone company was in that area. Dont be silly...no one would%26#39; be able to phone police or operator because the german agents would have cut the lines down and the only way was to get on your bike and go to the cop shop. By 1938, automated telephone switching was well established. In major cities, they could have dialed the police. In more rural areas they still may have had to talk to the operator. I have some key landmarks below and a link with more details.

Within a year, the Connolly and McTighe "girl-less" telephone system was patented. The first patent on the Strowger step-by-step system was issued in 1891. By 1892, the first commercial installation of automatic switching equipment using step-by-step mechanism was made at La Porte, Indiana.

My phone got wet and im trying to revive it...but if it doesnt can a CDMA technology phone get the numbers recovered?

if the phone is not stolen, why dont you call the provider I have had the same thing happen to a phone. If it completely dries out it may come back to life. Also if you go on line you may be able to get some of the recent numbers that you%26#39;ve called off your bill. Sometimes they keep record up to 3 mos depending on the service provider

If I make a Collect call, will it show up on my bill, or who Im calling?

I want to make a collect call to a friend, but im not sure if the call will show up on my bill or not... just wonderin lol

Answer:

It depends on the phone service you have, and the statements they are sending you. Some services will give you a listing of all outgoing calls, as well as incomming. So, yes, if you have one of those services, the call will show up on your bill, as well as the person you are calling collect (assuming they accept the charges.) However, I%26#39;m not completely sure if it will show the number you called, or just "1-800-Collect." Call the phone company and ask. Your friend is asked if they want to accept the charges or not. if you make a collect call it will show up on the persons bill you are calling if they accept the call The person you call is asked to accept charges before the operator will put the call through. The person that receives the call is responsible for the payment. If I call someone collect or something I usually offer to give them the money to cover it. It will show up on the receiver%26#39;s bill if they accept the call.

If someone far away phones you, will it cost you anything?

I know this is a stupid question, but I want to know. If you have a friend far away, like in another country and continent, and they phone you long distance, you know how it costs extra? Well, if THEY phone YOU, do you have to pay for it, or does it only cost them? And, is it different for cell phones?

Answer:

First, if your talking about your home phone, no, you aren%26#39;t charged if someone calls you, unless you have Vonage or a cell phone. If someone is calling your cell phone you will be charged the minutes etc. If you have Vonage for home phone service you will not be charged the cost of the call but you will be charged for the minutes used... for cell phones it cost. but for house phones, it depends on which company you%26#39;re with. some companies allow you to call long distance for free like bell south and at%26t. hoped i help you out! If %26#39;they%26#39; call you.. it%26#39;s an incoming call which is usually free. If you don%26#39;t get charged for incoming calls from your home region you wont be charged for international incoming calls.

No... nothing extra.. !

NO ! It will be treated just like any other normal non-international incoming call.. it shouldn%26#39;t Only if they call collect.

If you call long distance and hang up before they answer will that number still show up on your bill

thanks =) sorry if this in the wrong section...I wasn%26#39;t sure where to put it so this is where the computer picked.

Answer:

Simply answered, no. If no one answers on the other end, a call is not completed, therefor there is nothing to bill for.

Many competitive carriers offer partial minute billing, usually in 6 second increments. Ideally, you want a plan like this so in the event you connect for 1 second, you are not billed for a full minute. These type of plans also allow you to get closest to your contracted rate because you are being billed on a per second basis, rather than a per minute basis, so your usage is not being rounded up. I strayed from the question, but thought you might want to know. ofcourse, they still charge you too if your on the phone more than 15 seconds im pretty sure if the phone doesnt connect in other words u hang up before they answer then no the number wont show up on the bill No it will not show up unless the other part answered the phone. Just like using the pay phone if no answer it gives you your money back. no only if someone picks up or the answering machine pick up Unfortuantey they do and i hate it. they should do something about tht. some 1 should protest. :) No, if it rings continueously and no one answers then no charge should be made. If a answering machine picks it up then yes a charge will be made. If your long distance carrier charges for long distance even if no ne answers and no machhine picked up then it is time to change phone service.

If you call radio stations will it cost money?

And also will the phone numbers that you called show up on your bill?

Answer:

No. It costs no money to call radio stations. Unless it%26#39;s a long distance number for you. If you call from a land line, your bills never show the numbers called. The numbers only show up on cellular phone bills. It shouldnt show up on your bill unless its long distance then it will also cost you a little more Through the cellphone, yes. Through the home phone, no. Your bill does not show local calls, so if the station is local the answer is no. No it will not cost you any money to call a radio station. The only way it will cost you some money if you call long distance to the radio station. Almost all radio stations have toll free number for people that live out of the area.

I would like to know the quality of Rogers Home Phone. Please tell me your opinion and/or story. Thank you!

Answer:

I am a Rogers home phone subscriber, and can confirm that the quality of sound is exactly the same as a regular Bell landline. I guy I work with says that he sees no difference other than the price, which is a heck of alot lower than Bell. I haven%26#39;t switched yet...my Rogers bill is already at $175 a month for cable, cell and internet.

Answer:

you will have a different log in. sky will send you some package with an install CD or at least a letter to tell you that you need to log in via a sky connection instead of your normal BT one.

Im confused about long distance phone calls?

I live in arizona, and am traveling to florida for 2 weeks. During that time, I will want to call my bf who lives in Ariozna. But my plan only lets me call 9pm-9am. When I am in florida will that mean 9 florida time, or 9 arizona time?

Answer:

Cell phones are considered to be on their home network no matter where you go. (unless you roam) Example, if I live in Florida and travel to California and make a local call in California, it is like I am in Florida making that call. My local calls would be to Florida in my home city. Therefore, you should be able to call back as a local call. you might want to check with your Cell provider to see if they will use Florida time or Arizona time though since the phone will get the time of the closest tower. The little elves in the phone are whispering the answer, just stick it in your ear and you will find the key! Usually, the time zone they are referring to is the time zone YOU are in. If he calls you, then it%26#39;s his time zone. Read your plan. It will tell you what time zone it is subject to. well, theres a solution to this- there is a device you can take with you (anywhere in North america) and it plugs into the phone jack, and your phone plugs into this device.

why do this? because these devices make it so you are calling from your home phone #! so your calls will come up on your bill as LOCAL calls! i have no idea how it works, you%26#39;ll have to look into it, but i know it works because my brother travels a lot and uses this! amazing, huh?

Im considering dropping my land line telephone for wireless. What are the pros and cons?

After giving it some thought, I couldn%26#39;t see a reason for keeping the land line. I don%26#39;t need it for internet connection as I use satellite.

Answer:

As listed, the 911 emergency calling is the only %26#39;con.%26#39; (Lets ignore the %26#39;tumor%26#39; conspiracy.) You CAN talk on your cell while charging, with no adverse effects to you or the phone.

Lots of pros though...

I have recently done exactly what you are thinking of, and why? No one called the home number because everyone has my cell. I never called anyone from the home phone - because I have my cell.

There is no real reason to have a %26#39;land line%26#39; anymore. With cable modem and cell phones, who needs to waste the money? I%26#39;ve saved almost $55 per month by ditching the unused land line. the only disadvantage would be more realiable services for 911.

Currently, 911 can%26#39;t pinpoint your location, they can only guess. What if you call them and can%26#39;t speak? They have no way of knowing where you are. Also, wireline is%26#39; more realiable, since it is copper line all the way to the switch, which has generator backup. Wireless towers often go down (out of service) during storms and can lose power.

This is the only reason I keep my land line%26lt; since my wife is ashmatic and we absolutely need realiable 911 services. It%26#39;s up to you. But talking on cell phones for extended periods of time will A. drain the battery fast maybe interfering with your communications (It says in most cell phone manuals not to talk on your phone while it%26#39;s charging because it could short your phone out) and B. could possibly give you a tumor in the long run. I%26#39;d check www.cnet.com to see how much radiation your phone emits. If it%26#39;s alot maybe get another phone that emits less. The LG chocolate is pretty good in that regard. I did a long time ago and I have never regretted it...

Im in Toronto, Canada, how do I dial USA?

What do I need to dail before the area code?

Answer:

just use a "1" and area-code.and then the number.easy!! 1 or 0 usually. Uno (in case you don%26#39;t know Spanish its one or 1) All long distance is 1... unless you need operator assistance then it is 0. I called Australia a couple weeks ago, they have an extra number in there. Then I had to call the operator about that cause I didn%26#39;t get it!! I just got my phone bill today, it only cost $3.50 for nine minutes!! Thanks, I was dying to tell some one, I didn%26#39;t know what the heck it was going to cost till my bill came in!! Cool, now I can call more, since it is so cheap!! Sorry, I know you didn%26#39;t want to hear all that! LOL!! Oh well....Needed to get that out!! I thought it was going to be alot more!! Okay. I will stop!! LOL!! But at least you know that it won%26#39;t bankrupt you to call the states! Have fun!! Check out Time Dial

Im just about to leave home into a new flat, how do i got about getting a phone line set up?

I want to set up a new land line

Answer:

Talk to BT, there may already be a line there and in that case they will connect it for free! phone bt and tell them your a new tenant.think its 150 you call. phone bt give them your details its as simple as that If you don%26#39;t know that, and can%26#39;t figure out the answer youself, I suggest you are not ready to leave home and live on your own. Go online or phone lol BT and they will come in and set you up but my recommendation is Virgin Media. Use someone elses landline, or your mobile or go on tinterweb to the provider you want. They will arrange it. In the US you call the phone company to arrange that. I%26#39;m not sure where you%26#39;re from though. I wish that would show on here. Whats up , are you not talking to your parents , ask them, or do they allready know you are useless and have to be told everything.. we had to wait 2 months for bt to connect our landline just phone the company you want to use , and ask them. call the local phone company.

Im looking for a land phone as a receiver. I just want to receive calls, not to make calls. Any help

land phone as a receiver of calls.

Answer:

Absolutely there is a "measured" plan with AT%26T that will allow you to receive calls with a flat fee charge per month and it will allow you to make calls ONLY if you want at a flat per call fee.I am not sure what that per call fee is but you would only be charged if you MADE a call from that phone. The best part is, you can receive unlimited calls at no extra charge and only pay the flat rate per month for the service. What%26#39;s good about this is, IF you should have an emergency and you didn%26#39;t have another means of calling.like your cellphone was broken or lost etc., you could still make phone calls if you HAD to. I hope this helps as it%26#39;s a great plan for people who don%26#39;t really need to make outgoing calls on their landline, as it%26#39;s a lot less expensive for them. AT%26T has a basic plan which you can take... its either $3.95 or $4.95 a month... if you would like to make calls it only costs 1cent per minute... its basically for people who need a phone line only for DSL... I think it should work for you since you only want to receive calls i have seen phones that did not have a dial pad.. i am unsure where these were purchased.. but i have also seen devices that connect to the line cord, and lock, which prevents outgoing phone calls..

you can also request a pin for outgoing calls from your phone provider... although i am unsure if any of the CLECs or resellers will provide you with this, verizon usuallay does this for people who have a problem with thieft of service.. but they do not like to normallay put this feature on the line... as a tech, i have had a hard time in the past tring to get this feature added to customers who i believed had possible thieft of service issues...

Im looking to transfer a few voicemails (Bell Canada system) to my PC. Whats the best non-VoIP solut

I%26#39;ve heard of some sort of adapter that would plug into the microphone slot on the back of my PC, but I don%26#39;t know the full process or what the adapter is called (or even what it looks like).

Answer:

If you purchase a computer microphone to plug into the microphone jack on the back of your PC, you can go to "start button/programs/accessories/ entertainment /sound recorder" on your PC and then play the message on your phone while holding the microphone close to the receiver.

You could also call Bell Canada and ask them if they could email the messages to you in a .wav file.

Im trying to call a number in mexico but with every phone i use it says my number is not able to cal

yet when they call me its fine. by the way its a hotel.

Answer:

Very likely your hotel is blocking international calls from your phone. Go talk to the front desk to see if they%26#39;ll unblock it. Mind you, they%26#39;re going to make you pay for these calls.

If they won%26#39;t unblock, find a prepaid calling card and make calls that way, either with the landline phone at the hotel or your cellphone, though you%26#39;ll be chewing up airtime that way.

You%26#39;re probably using a laptop right now. You could use VoIP via one of the IM services (e.g., Yahoo Messenger) with a headset, if you%26#39;ve got one already.

Im wondering about tapped phones,,,,,?

I%26#39;m curious, is there%26#39;s no privacy on our internet or phone lines since digital? Are people really allowed to spy on us when we have no clue, since they%26#39;ve now introduced both together as a package? Have they pursuaded us to connect to dig to have less privledges to our privacy for whom ever is eligable to have our information when they want it or to check somone out for their privacy when nobody knows about it? How can we find out if our phone is really tapped without calling the big companies who allow this in the 1st place?

For ex: each time, i go answer or t make a call, about every couple mins or few seconds after i go answer i can barly tell, but being very quiet i do hear somthing, a very faint click , as if somone is there listening. Sometimes i hear background noise, then a click. is the phone tapped? Or not.

Answer:

this website has it all!

http://www.hellodirect.com/hellodirect/s... Sorry you found out now you know what must happen Why would anyone want to tap your phone? Are you a drug dealer or a pedophile?

I think you are just being paranoid... It might be. But if you haven%26#39;t done anything, why worry? If you haven%26#39;t done anything to draw attention to yourself, why would they be concerned about you? You are one person out of billions of others. What have you done to be worried about? If you haven%26#39;t done anything and are not going to do anything, if they are listening, then eventually they will get bored with you and move on to someone else. no, those are not signs of your phone being tapped. you will also hear the noise sometimes if, for instance, a telemarketer is calling. you answer...no sound...click noise..."hello, how are you doing mr. blah-blah-blah?" it happens and it%26#39;s normal for any computer controlled dialing system like telemarketers use or for some digital phone service providers.

Internet disconnects when i pick up my phone?

my internet keeps disconnecting when i use my phone, whether i dial out or someone is ringing me. when i pick up the phone i can hear my Belkin modem ringing/dialing and there%26#39;s quite a bit of static.

i%26#39;ve changed all my cables, the dsl filters, my modem and my phone but the problem is still there.

Any suggestions?

Answer:

Dial-Up Internet:

If you are using Dial-Up internet, it will disconnect once you pick up the reciever to make a call.

While using Dial-up internet, your phone should be busy for caller at that time. If not, i.e. if you get ring, that means you have call waiting enabled on your phone line and once somebody calls, internet will automatically disconnect and you will hear the ring.

You may disable call waiting on your phone, or the dial-up dialog box should have option to disable and enable automatically.

DSL: It should not occure, still you may try using a DSL filter. just check it out weather its a dial-up or broadband connection, b%26#39;coz such problems just occur with dial-up only, hope u%26#39;ll be able 2 understand that it all happens bcoz of speed. If you have dial up, you need a second line. DSL does not.

Is a long-distance provider required?

I%26#39;m getting my own place soon and I don%26#39;t know if I%26#39;ll be able to afford a lot of things, and I%26#39;m trying to trim as best I can.

With a land phone, is a long-distance provider required, or can I just have local calls?

If it%26#39;s required, I%26#39;m just not going to have a land phone and just use my cell phone.

Answer:

No, it%26#39;s not required. That%26#39;s optional. To save money, use just your cell phone. If you need it for internet, then do the most basic plan and don%26#39;t make calls out of your home. However, if you%26#39;re getting cable, you can usually get a deal with the cable company and get a cheap rate for both internet and cable TV and ditch the landlind phone. You only need a long-distance provider if you plan to make long distance phone calls. You may not even need a land line at all if you have a cell (unless you need it for the Internet). No, you don%26#39;t need a long-distance provider. Be sure to compare phone companies providing local service. Some people don%26#39;t know that you can choose other local service carriers. Is anyone familiar with Skype phone service?

How does it compare with Vonage? Pricing...Practical...Equipmen...

needed? Any info!

Answer:

i used vonage in the past.. they were very reliable, and very good... lately on here i have been seeing bad things about vonage.. however, i never experienced any problems with the vonage service...

i was using my cable companys voip service, and it worked flawlessly... i only canceled it because when i disconnected my tv service they would not allow me to get the double play rate for phone and internet, but bumped me to full price...

so now i am using skype.. it is completely diffrent from any phone provider..

I have 20gb D/l and 5 gb u/l speeds on my internet... (tested by speakeasy.net) and I have had several droped calls with skype...

i have the usb phone adapter ($30 at radio shack), so it is connected to my house phone.. sound quality is ok, but could be better...

for quality and reliability (especiallay if dealing with the line for business, or if you need to connect a fax machine which will not work with skype) i would recommend first going with your cable company (if you have HSI with them) then looking towards vonage, sun rocket, packet 8 or any of the other VoIP providers...

for cost, and value. skype is 1/2 the cost of the next most expensive service... at less then $90 for the year for skype in and skype out...

VoIP provided by your internet provider, either the cable company, or voice wing from verizon is superior, because it runs from your home, to your providers location over there network, and the voice packets are given priority, so call quality, and reliability is the best... (and you may be able to get a good rate with bundled services)

Is at&t going to start having their own satellite/cable provider besides dish or direct tv??

Mid west here!

Answer:

In some States, if certain legislation passes (eliminating local control over Cable rates) AT%26T is trying to offer a TV and Internet service called Lightspeed. It will not replace their Satellite partnership, but will be a new service, using land lines similar to regular Cable (but with much faster speeds and more bandwidth). Check with your local AT%26T offices for the progress of this effort in your area.

Is BT wrong?

i am renting a brand new flat as the 1st tennant, there is phone point installed as standard...but BT say i have to pay £124 to connect...is this right as the landlord told me he was told they did it free..can anyone shed some light on this for me? i thought all new flats came with phone lines and satalite dishes..

Answer:

You posted this under Answers US, not Answers UK.

It doesn%26#39;t sound right, especially if your landlord told you it was free. Check your lease to see which utilities are included. while i can not answer your question relating to the UK, i can answer the question with the information for the US, most likely it applies to where you live also...

while your home or apartment may have been prewired by the landlord, or contractor, the phone company still needs to come out to connect your wiring to there phone terminal outside of your home, since you are the first person moving into that apartment, they can not turn your line on from the office, as the contractor, nor landlord has access to touch the telephone companys terminals outside your home, or in some buildings inside the basement... and therefore, the phone company must send a tech to connect your wiring to the wiring inside the terminal...

the phone company will charge you a installation charge, regardless if a tech needs to come out, or if it can be done from the office... perhaps, some companies may waive this fee, or some companies may not charge this fee, but since the information that you provided sounds like a tech will need to come out to do work to turn your service on, i highly doubt that they will waive the fee for you... actually if you live in a bldg that the prewire has been connected to its own connection block and requires a network terminating wire(ntw) to connect the phone equipt to the bldg prewire, and can be toned back from the jack, they will run the ntw for free..this is in california...also in california..landlords/property management co%26#39;s are resp. to provide and maintain 1 working jack in a residence...see assembly 101..it%26#39;s the law

Is calling National Do Not Call Registry from cell phone only to 888-382-1222 legit?? Just got an em

This is the email I received: REMINDER..7 days from today, all cell phone numbers are being released to telemarketing companies, and you will start to receive sales calls. YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS. To prevent this, call the following number FROM YOUR CELL PHONE: 888-382-1222.

It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for 5 years. You must call from the cell phone number you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number. HELP OTHERS BY PASSING THIS ON TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS, IT TAKES ABOUT 20 SECOND.

Answer:

if you go to the do not call registry they tell you about this phony scam.

Telemarketers are required by law not to call a cell phone even if it is your only means of contact. Even companies that can solicit you because of the rules don%26#39;t use your cell phone to much of a risk and customers don%26#39;t like to pay for solicitations. This is why I use my cell for contact and tell them up front it is a cell phone. I would not call that number. Go to the web site and input your land line and cell phone. There is no charge for the registry.

Is isdn better than other phone line ?how?

Answer:

ISDN is a "standard" and not a "product". Digital products would include ADSL, T1, E1, PRI all of which would be ISDN ready. yes. Use and see ISDN is better because it uses 2 x 64kbps (b channels) for data traffic whilst analog only uses a 56.6kbps analog line.

If you%26#39;re on the Internet with you analog line then you won%26#39;t be able to call or do anything else until you disconnect the line. With ISDN, you can use one channel for surfing the internet while the other line can be left open for phone calls or faxes. It all depends on how you set it up.

digital traffic is better because it has error handling features which improves the quality of the signal.

ISDN is not available in all places and have extra costs associated with it. yes ISDN is better than a regular phone connection for internet purposes, however it has been made pretty much obsolete by ADSL. It all depends what you want to use it for, if it is just calls then the difference between a standard line and ISDN is just that the signal is digital all the way through. If you are using it for data you can connect twice as fast as a normal line, and have the benefit of making calls whilst you surf. ISDN has been made obsolete since the introduction of ADSL/Broadband in the UK and most operators are phasing it out as ADSL is cheaper and faster for the customer so new connections use that instead. ISDN tends to be used by businesses as they provide additional benefits via a telephone system, such as direct dial numbers.

If you%26#39;re thinking of using it a home, you%26#39;ll need a terminal adaptor to be able to plug a standard "home" phone into, which tends to be expensive and difficult to find nowadays as no-one uses them.

ISDN at home could be useful as it does give you faster dial up speeds to access the internet, but with the advent of much faster ADSL services available to most of us it really doesn%26#39;t make sense.

So, I would suggest that if all you need is a voice line use a standard analogue service with broadband on top for the internet. It%26#39;s cheaper and much more efficient.

Is it legal that i can only get one company of home phone service?

where i live there is on;y one home phone service company to go through. But 8 miles down the road you can pick and choose who you want service with. Is that legal?? The company that i%26#39;m going trough is SOOO expensive. But they don%26#39;t offer unlimited long distance. I want o be able to pick and choose my own comapny. but it looks like i can%26#39;t. Does anyone know who i would have to speak to to voice my opinon??

Answer:

For local residential landline service (plain old telephone service as we know it), there%26#39;s only one player.

Your options involve nontraditional services. There%26#39;s VoIP via open or proprietary networks and standards. They include your cable modem or DSL carrier or 3rd party carriers such as Vonage and Skype. There%26#39;s cellular.

But don%26#39;t expect to find competition at the local level. Companies such as AT%26T and MCI tried that battle by forcing Verizon and SBC and others to open up their local exchanges to allow other carriers to serve and bill using those facilities. But there simply isn%26#39;t enough money to be made in that realm, so they pulled out, leaving the local carriers big and small to provide that last mile service. sounds like you live in a verizon area! it%26#39;s legal. i don%26#39;t really understand how but it is. i%26#39;ve been told that other providers CANNOT get into verizon markets. have you doublechecked to make sure your cable company doesn%26#39;t offer phone service? otherwise you might consider looking into vonage or skype that%26#39;s what i did for the same reasons you describe. contact your mayors office and senator to complain. if enough people speak up they will do some legislation. It%26#39;s not a monopoly situation.

Is it possible to have my bluetooth headset connected to my landline phone from my pc? if so how?

i need my bluetooth device connected to my landline connected through my pc. please help

Answer:

I think about three things will do the job:

1. A bluetooth adapter that can connect to ur bluetooth headset. I am not sure all the adapters in the market do that but there are some adapters that install a audio driver in ur pc when u install the adapter. U will need such an adapter.

2. a software that will allow u to use ur telephone line connected to ur modem through audio drivers installed in ur pc. By default such an software will use ur pc%26#39;s built in audio driver (causing the sound coming out from ur speaker connected with ur pc). U will need to find the settings for the software that tell it which audio driver to use, Here u should select the bluetooth audio driver that will be installed with ur adapter.

3. finally u will need to regester ur headset with ur adapter by the software provided with ur adapter.

Sure she is why would it matter unless you have something to hide, grow up and do the right thing, Honesty is the only way for true love yes, she has the right, it is her plan too

learn to share Depends if she is contributing to the cost of the bill and how serious are you and girlfriend? Are you near engaged or married?

If not, then, no, tell her you pay for it, your entitled to make calls to whomever That depends have you given here a reason to not trust you? If not then it is a bit paranoid for her to be checking your phone bill but you are the only one who can decide if this is appropriate for your relationship or not.

I hope you don%26#39;t have photography as a career goal (grin).

I can%26#39;t see the model, but if your phone is over a year old go on eBay and buy another one. It will cost you less then the repair cost and you can save the first one for parts (battery, screen, etc) if you break the second.

.. Well I am not really sure. You can try it out but I can%26#39;t guarantee that it will still work. When you push the buttons and nothing happens then maybe it is just recked for good. Its kind of hard to tell. When I got my first phone I left it on my window sill and it was pretty cold that night. I woke up to turn it on and it wouldn%26#39;t turn on so I had to get a new one. So maybe that%26#39;s what happened to yours. The heat from the lamp was to much for it.

Is ryobi cordless saw 18v a quality saw?

Answer:

If budget is a concern it is acceptable for light duty work. Don%26#39;t expect power for any length of time in any of the 18v stuff. Ask your self what you want to do with it. If you do not have to have cordless, I would skip it and get a corded unit. You won%26#39;t have to worry about making a bad decision if you get a Bosch, Hitachi, Milwakee or Dewalt. I only buy cordless if I already have corded. Good luck ryobi is a garbage brand.. i only purchace this brand, if i am in a bind, and need a tool for use for 1 or 2 jobs... and rental is not an option... if this is for a trade professional then dont bother with the $40-50 cordless ryobi, instead get yourself a good dewalt for a few hundred...

i wouldnt recommend on getting a cordless saw, as when the battery runs down, you risk the blade binding, and could cause serious injury... get yourself a good corded drill, and a (at minimum) 50 ft high quality extention cord (yellow or orange, so it dosent become a trip hazzard, people can see it)

if you only need it once or twice, and the ryobi is cheaper then renting a good quality tool then its worth the purchace, otherwise, if it is not something that you are going to need just rent something good...

if this is for a customer, add the cost of the rental, or ryobi to the jobs total cost..

Is the a landline cordless phone that I could get that will work within a half mile radius?

I have a salvage yard thats about 3 acres. I need a cordless phone that I could use in the office and be able to walk into the yard on it too. Whats the best cordless phone for me?

Answer:

yes, use the uniden base-phone with an blue-tooth extension...you can clip it on your belt!! I don%26#39;t remember exactly what they were called but we used to have something like those old mobile phones with the large antennas (3%26#39;%26#39;) which had a base that was kept in the house, good for about 2 kilometers, that was about ten years ago. I think they were sattelite phones or something. Todays phones start to lose their connection after about 60feet... Have you considered walkie talkies for communicating with people in your office while your out in the field? Why not just use your mobile phone? I%26#39;ve been impressed with the range on my Panasonic 5.8 GHz phone. My base station is at one end of my 2500 sq ft house, and voice quality is perfect down my driveway at the other end of the house, through walls, upstairs through the ceiling/floor, etc. I have never once lost the signal on this phone, and I walk around with it quite a bit. Admittedly I haven%26#39;t tried 1/2 mile of range, but with my setup, I don%26#39;t think I can. I%26#39;ve certainly gone 1/10 mile with big obstructions.

If you can place the base station in a high window where it can see your entire yard unobstructed, you might have a shot at 1/2 mile. look into the DECT phones.. they operate at 1.9 ghz, so they offer better range then 2.4 ghz and 5.8 ghz phones...

I would recommend placing the cordless base unit as close to the center of the property, and as high as possible, to provide you with the best range...

Is there a phone i can buy to block calls starting with "1" (long Distance)?

Does anyone make a special phone that can tell when you are trying to call long distance and prevent it from occurring ... all long distance calls begin with "1" or "0" and so if this phone was able to tell that a # began this way then it would be easy for it to stop the call from occurring.Granted the caller could call the operator for assistance but that will never happen in my case.

Answer:

its not the phone , it provided by your service provider! most broadband provider have it. All you have to do is go online and change it! If you have a regular phone, just buy a callerID manager, and plug it in the unit!

I have a list of numbers that i try and get ahold of at work but have to manually dial them is there a phone that i can hook up to the computer and like just scroll thru the numbers on the comp and click on them to dial or anything along those lines jsut something so that i dont have to manually dial everytime i make a call

Answer:

The popular "Blackberry" phone/puter combo has download capability...other "phones"...not so sure... Depends on what program is storing the phone numbers you%26#39;re looking up.

If you%26#39;re using MS Outlook and you have a bluetooth phone, you can get a bluetooth dongle for your computer and "push" the contacts into your phone.

If you have a Sony Ericsson phone, you can use this program called Float%26#39;s Mobile Agent. You might try FutureDial

Is there a phone/fax machine that can tell automatically if a fax is calling?

Answer:

Well, it can tell after it%26#39;s picked up the phone. The sending fax sends a fax announce tone, 1100 Hz, for half a second repeated every three seconds.

But there is no way of knowing a fax is calling until you pick up the phone. Unless you (or your machine) recognize the caller ID. So if you know a fax is going to come from a particular number, you can programme your machine to answer.

This is the reason home fax mahines are often tied in with answering machines. The machine picks up the phone and if it hears the fax announce tone, switches to fax, otherwise it%26#39;s through to the answering machine. Yes, many of those all in one fax/copier/scanner devices do just that. They are made for a home office.

You control how many rings you want it to answer.

Pretty easy stuff YES... most fax machines have the ability to do this...

some older fax machines may not be able to do this... but there is a soloution for that problem also. they sell a fax switch. you connect the fax switch at or near your demarc. you connect the wire going to the fax jack into the fax port of the switch, and the wire connecting the rest of the jacks to the phone port of the jack... and the dial tone from the nid connects to the input of the device... it will send your incomming faxes to the fax jack, and the voice calls will ring to your phones...

here is a link to what i am talking about

http://www.cwol.com/fd2.htm

i purchaced and installed something similar in a doctors office some time ago at staples..however i believe that staples no longer carries these, as most modern fax machines are able to distinguish the diffrence between voice and fax calls.

Is there a service that can make free PC to phone calls?

I know Skype is still pretty cheap at 25 dollars/ year. I don%26#39;t know if it works well however. Is there anywhere that will let me make phone calls FROM my computer for free? I appreciate any help.

Answer:

www.skype.com

If you have a broadband connection then you can but if your connection is too slow then the service will be bad. I recently purchased a Skype phone and have been calling everywhere in the U.S. and Canada. Has great sound quality too. Costs about $70 a year to call in and out and get a phone number. Costs about 30 or 40 dollars just to call out and not have a phone number. Remember $70 dollars a years is not bad at all for home phone service. Also has voice mail. I got rid of Sprint cell phone and got a pay as you go phone for emergencies only and still come out way cheaper at the end of the year. Free PC to PC yes skype // yahoo // aol

Free PC to Phone no

Free Phone to Pc no no, I have them tried too...just use voice.yahoo.com or skype! try this site

Is there a special country prefix for phone numbers in the US or for the UK?

I know in the US it%26#39;s (area code) prefix-number, but is there anything you would put on the front of that when dialing the US from the UK? How about from the US to the UK?

Answer:

From (US city) to UK

Ex.

011- 011 is the international prefix used to dial somewhere outside of U.S.A..

44- 44 is the international code used to dial to U.K..

20- 20 is the local area or city code used to dial to London.

X - X is the local number you wrote. Exchange X with your number

From UK to (US city)

Ex.

00- is the international prefix used to dial somewhere outside of U.K..

1 - 1 is the international code used to dial to U.S.A..

213 - There are multiple city/area codes in use for Los Angeles. If 213 does not work, you may try the others. The area codes used are: 213/310/323/626/818.

X - X is the local number you wrote. Exchange X with your number Easy answer use Skype it cuts the guessing out for the International dialling code. It also tells you how the phone number should be entered.

It%26#39;s cheaper to use too, even free if you speak to someone on Skype.

Is there a way to block someone from calling your home phone?

I have a Panasonic phone. This girl who use to be my friend called me at 1 in the morning and I dont want her to keep calling me in the morning because I know her and she is a person who will keep doing that!I HATE HER!!

Answer:

Call your phone company and ask them if you can subscribe to "CALL BLOCKING" service. There is a monthly charge for this and it does NOT work on all calling numbers. You CAN block another landline, most of the time, but you cannot block a cellphone number from calling you. This service will enable you to block 6 numbers but as I said, it has to be another landline number, not a cellphone number. The caller will receive a message that their calls are being blocked and usually if someone has been calling you all the time and they get this message, they%26#39;re simply going to use another phone to call you. SO, there really isn%26#39;t a way to effectively block someone who really wants to call you except if you change your number, which is what I would recommend. When you change your number, be sure that you ALSO make it private and UNLISTED. Be sure the phone company puts a message to be played when your old number is called that will NOT give out the new number. You would most likely benefit from a message that tells the caller that your phone has either been disconnected or changed to a private number. THEN, do not forget, if you make calls after your number has been changed, CALLER ID will identify your number to people you call. Your "friend" might be able to get your number this way so be careful as to who you give it out to. (You can oftentimes block the delivery of your calling information by dialing *67 and then the number). This works in most cases (not all, but most) and might prevent your friend from getting your new number. Good luck! Why dont you just tell her to stop calling you...DUH i have the same problem pls someone tell us i already trt doing that but it didnt work the whole stop calling me thing! You could always change your phone #. dial *60 69

Yes and No. Just put it down on "Google " or any search engine; if it belong to a comany, collection agency or scam it will show some results.

If you are being harassed, put a complain and the phone company and/or the police will deal with it. yes if the phone is in their name. or you can call 411 and give them the number, and if they are listed, 411 will give you the name and address of the person who%26#39;s phone it is. yeah do a reverse lookup at 411.com There are many resources available online now, which can be used to find names and verify information.Follow a link , It will certainly help U to find desired person or company.Thanx.

Is there a way to see what numbers have been dialed from a home phone (land line)?

Answer:

you can call your phone company and asks for the numbers on your monthly bill and its usually free. i have it. it also shows how long each phone call made from your phone was. Check the phone bill No, I don%26#39;t think so. I%26#39;ve never seen a detailed bill on a land line. Sorry. The phone bill will tell you, and if you have a more expensive phone, it%26#39;ll tell you the last 5 numbers you called by hitting redial, but without having the phone %26#39;on%26#39; (as in you hear the dialtone). Itemised phone bill. yes,you can get a list from your phone co. You phone company would have records of local calls. They retain these for legal purposes and are often subpoenaed in crime cases. The long distance numbers are shown on the monthly statement. I think some phones come with that option, that you can check what numbers have been called. yes there is but it depends on what type of phone you have.that is a feature w/ your unit.w/ panasaonic phones (cordless) its called the redial feature but you can only view the redial list

Is there any home phone provider that doesnt need a BT Phone Line?

Wassup? I%26#39;m asking this because we currently don%26#39;t have a phone line so we can%26#39;t make AND receive calls (tough...) so is there any home phone provider that doesn%26#39;t need a BT Phone Line? At first I preferred Sky but they need a bt phone line so hard luck! Thanks for the answers in advance!

Answer:

Depends on your area.

The only three providers of "non-BT" phone lines in the UK are:

VirginMedia (encompassing NTL and Telewest)

Kingston Communications (Only in Hull)

Wight Cable - Isle of Wight, and bizarrely, some of Southern Scotland and the extreme north of England. cable and wireless Virgin Media. But you need their cable service to your house.

Bite the bullet. Get a phone line. Virgin media, and sky doesn%26#39;t need bt unless you are going for broad band internet. you have to be connected by bt to start with, then you can change over to any other provider. Theres no getting round BT, l know cos l%26#39;ve tried Virgin Media (cable) NTL / Telewest as was... Talk Talk I think from Carphone Warehouse. virgin media Obviously you could use your mobile. If you%26#39;ve got a 3 mobile then you can get Skype which basically gives you unlimited calls around the world for a fixed fee. I%26#39;ve also known people to have a look around with their laptops for %26#39;free%26#39; wireless broadband / wifi networks in their vicinity, and then use Skype or similar VoIP to get free phone calls.

If you want to be a bit more legit then there%26#39;s also "Now Wireless Broadband" http://www.mynow.co.uk/ who offer broadband without the need to get a BT phoneline. You%26#39;d need to get Skype on top of this for a broadband based home phone provider.

Or basically fork out a few quid a month for a BT line! VIRGIN MEDIA [CABLE] virgin media .. we have just got them for a land line and broadband.. but we had a telewest (now virgin media) socket in the house so it was a quick connection, it might take some time otherwise. sky needs BT land line, so no good for you.

Is there any phone carriers that you dont have to sign a contract to?

Is there a phone carrier other thatn track phones that you don%26#39;t have to sign up on a copntract.and if so what phones r the best/coolest

Thanx A LOT

Answer:

I have Verizon pay-as-you-go and I get great service w/o a contract. I use the option of buying phone cards to refill my minutes, but they also have an option where you can pay $50 a month (w/o a contract, month to month basis) for phone service. Both plans include free Verizon 2 Verizon calls and free calling after 9 pm, but the month 2 month option gives you (basically) free weekends (a large amount of additional minutes for the weekends). There%26#39;s always that "pay as you go" option...but if that doesn%26#39;t work for you...here is a website that shows most of the contract-free services...just scroll down to the chart. Hope this helps and have a great time at the beach!

Is there any way to block a person from calling?

On a regular home phone (Panasonic). But I don%26#39;t want to have to call my phone company.

Answer:

The best way is to get Privacy Manager put on your phone line. I would never go without it again. You won%26#39;t get any telemarketers, and if someone is calling you, you can block their number. It will only allow phone calls to go through if there is caller ID type information sent through, and if not, your phone won%26#39;t even ring. If someone calls on a calling card, they will have to identify themselves to even get it to ring on your end, unless you give them a password. I can even tell who is calling by the ringtone it makes. Its delightful! Its about $5 a month, but the peace of mind it gives you is worth it. yes phone up your provider ie. BT and ask them to do it Not sure where you are located, but in Canada/US try * 60 or dial 1160. then follow the prompts. Its called "call screen" and will divert unwanted callers with an announcement saying you are not available to take calls.

Your phone wont ring. you can divert up to 12 numbers at one time ..You can update/remove the numbers at later time. If you are in the UK go to the BT website www.bt.co.uk/phone book for instructions. BTW, some service providers may charge you for this service.best option is take advantage of service packages for several services like call display/ waiting/forwarding etc etc... works out cheaper than single options.. good luck :) hope this helps. PS i use to live in UK this option is available but cannot recall how to do it.

Is there any way to call someones answering machine directly?

I want to call someone but not talk to them just leave a message; is there a certain number-my brother has done it before...

Answer:

With most voicemail landline systems, if YOU have voicemail, you can leave a private message for another person with voicemail, without ringing their phone. They must be local I believe. It does not work long distance. For those with answering machines, if there is no answer, and the announcement starts, press %26#39;*%26#39; (star) and it will go immediately to the answering system, skipping the message. Only if the person has set the machine to one (1) ring No. You can only do it using Voice Mail. Note: Voice Mail is NOT the same as an Answering Machine!

Is there any way to make free telephone call using internet?

Answer:

check out yahoo.com messenger I%26#39;m sure they can help u. Good luck skype Yes, Skype.com

What is Skype?

Skype is a little piece of software that lets you make free calls to anyone else on Skype, anywhere in the world. And even though the calls are free, they are really excellent quality. If you and your friends, family or business contacts are using webcams, you can also make free video calls. You can even call landlines and mobile phones at really cheap per minute rates.

Skype is free to download and easy to use. Skype, but for an actual TELEPHONE call, there are extremely cheap internet-phone services. I%26#39;ve never used skype before but I do know that you can have full on conversations through AIM for free. Only niche is you have to have speakers and a microphone (or microphone headset). And the person your talking to must have a screen name. Hope this helped! I have Skype and will NEVER pay for a "land" phone again

it cost me $14 a year for unlimited outgoing calls ( in the US )

$29 for the headset

$85 a year for unlimited incoming, with voice mail

I still have my cell phone for in an emergency if I have a power failure and I need phone service Forget Skype

VOIPCHEAP.COM is the way to go. You even get FREE phonecalls to landlines to a bunch of countries, when you load some credit.

Is there any way to view all phone calls that have been made off a home phone before receiving the p

If it matters, I have AT%26T phone service.

Answer:

You can go on-line and check the web site and see if they will let you check it there that is the only way I see it being possible if that is even a possibility they would have! no cannot do until the bill is published.

worked for a cell company and you cannot see in advance of bill printing. sorry Most phone companies have a website where you can sign up to view your bill before you get it in the mail. It should have a feature where you can view a list of all the calls made to date at any time you wish.
