I live on the 6th floor of a building and do not go out of my apartment with my cordless phone. I am wanting to get a new phone. should I get a 2.4 ghz or a 5.8 ghz? Which one would be best? Price?
Answers:
your best bet would be a DECT 6.0! if you don%26#39;t go out, it really doesn%26#39;t matter, but I%26#39;d go with the 5.8 for better distance %26 reception. Hi elvizpressley,
The 5.8 ghz %26 shop around. I got mine at Circuit City it was about $99.00 when I got it. I live on 3rd floor can take mine down to the corner on my block %26 it works fine. Have a good day. :0) 5.8ghz is the best, has better range and clearer sound. Faitly reasonable can be found about $50-60 or less at WalMart or Sam%26#39;s Club here we go again with the rational that 5.8 is a higher number then 2.4 so it must go further.. not to mention 5.8 phones came out after 2.4 phones were on the market.
if you must learn the truth about radio frequencies, do some research... the LOWER the frequency, the FURTHER the distance is..
the 2.4ghz will have at least as good range, if not MORE range then the 5.8ghz phone.. BUT can get interference from WiFi networks...
so 2.4 will be fine, if you do not have a WiFi router...
but if you want the best then get a DECT phone.. it cost slightly more, but they operate at 1.9ghz, so provide the furthest range available today... If you want to go further away from the base, spend the extra cash and get a 5.8ghz. It has a more powerful signal. I can walk down to the end of my block with mine.
