How do get my landline telephone to ring me back?

I%26#39;ve been wondering this for sometime now: I used to know a code that would allow you to ring your own home telephone from that phone. It was something like 211, then you%26#39;d enter the phone # and hang up. Sortly thereafter your own phone would ring. This was very useful for finding cordless handsets. How do I do this?

Answers:

this feature has been removed from most central office switches.. but when it did work.. it could be diffrent from central office to central office...

in most of the 718 at least ... it was 660 plus the last 4 digits of your number, hang up (or flash) pick back up to hear the confirmation tone, then hang up and it will ring back

so thats (if area code is required to dial local calls, you may need to add it)

660-xxxx flash listen for tone, hang up..

mostly dosent work any more.. it might still work where you are, but it may be something completely diffrent, as it depends on how it was programed at the local switch... I don%26#39;t know, it may vary depending on your phone carrier. Try calling your telephone company, they would probably know.

Also, most cordless handsets have a button on the charging base that you can press to make the handset beep, that way you can locate it. I%26#39;m pretty sure if u just call your own number, wait about 3 seconds, and then hang up, it should make ur phone ring.

Also, you could call from another line, such as your cell phone, or ask a friend to call you.
