How do i connect 2 home phones together to create a closed loop?

I would like to create a phone system for my children from my front room to there bedroom so they cal make calls to each other. I have phone cable, 2 telephones and all the equipment required to install the phones but I am not to sure how to do it.

I beleive that a 9V battery is required but that is about it.

I hope some one can help me keep a promise to my daughters

you are correct all you need is a 9V battery to provide a "talk line" however, the phones will not ring eachother..

just connect the 9v somewhere in the circuit, one side to the green (or blue/white) and the other side on the red (or solid blue)

at the jack, just connect the green to green (or blue/white) and the red to red (or solid blue)

in place of a 9V you could use a transformer...

you could set up the wiring with a door bell or buzzer on either end to replace the ringing of the phone...
