Every cordless phone system we ever buy stinks?

We need one with a good answering machine, at least two phone units, preferably an extra recharger. It would be nice if it could get reception 40-50 feet away from the base, if both phones could be in on the same conversation, and support caller ID. We will definitely never, ever buy an AT%26T brand phone again.

The best answer would recommend a phone that meets the above needs and with which the answerer has personal experience and satisfaction. The best answer would also provide details or examples of why the phone system is good.

Answers:

The best cordless Gigasets I have owned are Panasonic (current), VTech (previous) and Seimens (first).

The WORST were AT%26T, Uniden and Sony (returned all of then in less than a month).

Seimens is no longer sold in the US.

Panasonic offers a 5.8 GHz model (I%26#39;ve used a handset 200 feet from the base, with crystal clear quality), with Talking Caller ID, answering machine on the base, expandable up to 8 handsets (I have 2), color display and tons of other features.
