How can telephone signal travel so fast when you dial someone so far away?

Answers:

Telephone signals travel at the speed of light (186,000 miles / sec).

The circumference of the earth is about 25,000 miles. Therefore you can circulate around the earth 7 1/2 times in 1 second if you were to travel at the speed of light.

From the above info, I beleive you can see how two parties on opposite sides of the earth can easily talk over the phone and not have a problem with phone signal travel speed.

If only we could travel that fast! (Actually current physics suggests we would have serious other problems if we could do so). They travel fast, the speed of light, just like the other answerer said. It%26#39;s amazing, in comprehensable. Just like there is no end to the universe, it%26#39;s so hard to comprehend.
