ive been having nuisance calls from a witheld number. What can i do about it?
Answers:
You cant trace the number, but your service provider can.How ever they wont give it to you as the culprits are protected by "DATA PROTECTION",and your rights are not worth a jot..You can take it to the police, and they will help you if they are posing a threat, but usually, and rightly so they are busy with real crime.I have had this before i got a lot of sympathetic noises until threats were made, only then did i get the help required.Changing your phone no. could help, but i seriously dout it, as 98% of the time its someone you will know, and if they have a real grievence they will get it one way or the other.Im not sure if there is an actual solution to it all,but good luck and i hope it stops soon. nope - unfortunately BT really dont give a damn. I have phoned Vodafone, O2 and BT on separate lines and it all comes down to the same thing - %26#39;we cant give the number cos irts withheld%26#39;. I asked them if the police wanted to know then you would tell them - but why not me? it sucks Call your service provider and get your number changed or as them tio trace the calls. If you are with BT and you contact them they can find out the number REGARDLESS of the caller withholding the number. I%26#39;d like to know this one too as i%26#39;ve had the same problem BT told me it was a computer generated number. It never stopped so now i%26#39;ve changed my number. They seem to have stopped now. There is a service you pay about £4pcm for to stop witheld numbers ringing you. This didnt work for me as i got them ringing from Unavailable numbers. What the difference is i do not know. you cannot trace one yourself, either contact yourservice provider or if the caller is harassing you, then you can contact the police. nothing. There%26#39;s no way for you to trace unknown numbers unless you have to make a request from your telephone company, though, telephone companies won%26#39;t give a possible answer to you if you are just a normal citizen/user. On the other hand, you will be advised to apply the service of blocking unknown numbers with a monthly charge. You cannot find out the number yourself. This happened to me a while ago, I%26#39;m with BT, what they do is identify the witheld number and then pass it directly to the police (who do very little about it) you can then ask BT to block that number getting through to you. Give your phone to a girl make her act all horny, get the persons number then sort him out. Haha, joking i dont think you can do much apart from getting in touch with the police if it gets really annoying.
